Well here is my story.
First off all I am truly honored to be nominated for BOTM.
Because I am Britbiker I also loved the Norton Manx, but as you, it's very difficult and expensive to find a Norton Manx.
So I decided to make a Manx (replica) bike. I wanted something classic and I started to google around.
I discovered the Honda CB750 F2 (with 71856kms), this was a good stock CB750 project bike, the bike was stalled for about 10 years.
But the good thing was, it came with a lot of spares: a second engine, 4 wheels, 6 carbs, 3 tanks....
This was the start of a new project, it was the first time for me to handle a Honda, but luckily there was this forum.
First I have read a lot of topics in the Project Shop and Questions Forums, so now I could make an inventory of the parts that has to be replaced.
Thanx to some chats with Voxonda, I knew wich were the weak parts of the F2.
Time to put the bike in to pieces.
The engine was completely stripped, cleaned all the muck off it and assessed what is worn out and what can be reused.
For an F2 the problem usually seems to be the valves, cam, and rockers, fortunately mine are reusable, (also the parts of the spare engine are reusable)
and the bottom end of the engine is really good. The cilinders are a bit rusty, and the rings worn.
