Finally got to drive it around the neighbor hood checking for any problems. Everything seems alright WOOT. Still got a few little things to do waiting for the license plate bolt lights to come in. Need to get new gauge faces and still playing around with the striping on the tank and side covers. I hope to get it down to the DMV Tuesday and then go for a nice ride.

Geeze Matt, you have done a beautiful job on that 550, just beautiful. I really like those pipes, good choice,  it sets off the whole lower end showcasing the details. Very nice.

Looks great!  Where did you find the top handlebar riser clamp?  I'm looking for that exact piece for my 74.

Hello Aaron the handlebar riser clamp comes off a Yamaha Vmax 1985-2006 will work. I picked it up off ebay for about 14$ looks pretty good..I saw the picture of the 74 that you picked up nice looking bike for the price you paid.

I am looking at drag bars for mine. I like the superbike bars but want a different feel with this one. How was the routing for the cables? Did you have to mod any?

Tews had to play with the routing a bit the throttle cable works fine the clutch cable so so it works alright but I am not 100% happy with it still some slack its not a honda cable so I am going to buy a stock one and see how that works. I think the hardest thing was the M/C the banjo bolt getting that all in there took a few tries. I dont think how I did it is right maybe someone can chime in. I turned it up if you look in the pic you can see the brake line looping up over the M/C. The few drives I have done  around the neigbor hood the front brake feels so so. I am going to play with it some more but I think having it higher than the M/C is getting air trapped there. Going to bleed it again see if I can get it to feel better worse comes to worse will buy a differnt banjo. One other thing I will have to look but the drag bars I got are very short I think they make them a little bit longer would probally help with the clearence issues on the M/C maybe.

Tews just looked and the bars I have are 27.5.. Goldarrow found a set that was 29 inches. That might be better either way it can be done.

Went down to the DMV today and got it registered. Took it out for a drive went about 80 miles or so. Feels great everything works as it should. The petcock was leaking everyonce in awhile will get a new one or a new gasket. The seal  on the sprocket side cover was leaking a bit will order a new one if needed hadnt leaked once but guess putting some miles on it got it going.Still have a few more things to do then will call it done and onto the next project..

Man people suck. I got the bike registered on Thursday drove it for a bit and then today the wife and I went for a ride. We stopped for lunch and a few guys came up and were looking at the bikes asking a few question they seemed cool. We went in and ate when we came out one of them had stolen my stator cover WTF. It was on there when we went in I noticed about 20 feet away when we came out that it was missing. This just pisses me off so bad. We go out of our way to help people and trust people and seems like we always get screwed over time and time again. #$%* if one of them asked if they could have the cover I probally would have given it to them if they wanted it that bad. I am sorry for this rant but took me over a year to build this thing and in 2 days some asshat takes something that doesn't belong to them. Damn I need a beer !!

I have a picture of the cover it was nothing special if by the grace of god anyone see this on a bike please let me know I would love to have a chat with said person.

If anyone has a cover they want to sell please let me know..

Thanks Matt
