I may have something for you. I'll have to crack open a few motors to check for the best condition.
You want the hole pump or specifically the impellers?

My thoughts are how was it performing before and how will an unknown perform after? Would I trust an unknown pump in an expensive new engine when the previous pump had good pressure?

Right on Godffrey! I only need the impellers but will take a hole pump if its easier.

Jerry, if you look back on this thread you will see my bike started out as a complete basket case. This thing was far from running when I brought her home. The odometer had well over 60,000 miles on it and I have no idea if it was the original. The frame is a 74 but the whole front end has ended up being a sandcast or at least very close to a sandcast. So at this point all bets are off and the dice are being rolled man! Haha !  All I know is the pump is the single most important part of the beast and I am no way going to install it with internals that look like this.

Yeah those look pretty bad. Still, it's such an overbuilt unit if you replaced all the ORinigs, I'd wager that it would still pump up to 60+ and trigger the safety valve.

Still, you'd like to get a better one, understood.

When I did mine, I hovered on eBay till I found one with 7500 miles on it, from a 75F, guaranteed by seller. Paid $75 for it. It looked pristine, rotors nary a scratch. Took about three weeks of shopping, logging in to eBay twice a day etc. So much stuff is "buy it now" rather than an auction, you've got to be ready to buy, or someone else will get it.

Bot several to get to that point, mostly in the $30 range from K2 to K5. These are mostly pretty beat up too, though not as bad as yours. But that range bike got the most mileage. Fs, 77s and 78s are usually low mileage, loss of interest plays. I'll resell the ones I don't want. I think you can find better than mine.

They are out there good luck!

I would bet money this one is like I say, very nice, way better than yours. Not much of a gamble, can always resell.

Contact seller for mileage, but I'd bet they are low.

Thanks Ron. I will see what tweakin has before I pull the trigger on one of those. I thought about just putting it all back together but with so many pumps out there I am sure it will be easy to find one in good shape.

Yup. Someday the supply will dry up, but not soon it seems.

APE clutch

I ordered the APE clutch last week and it arrived yesterday. I was pretty disappointed when I opened the package and saw it did not come with all the steel plates. The picture on their website shows all the plates so I just assumed it came with them. So now I need to place another order with Honda for plates. This really sucks because I just placed one a few days ago and it has just shipped. So now I have to pay for shipping on another order.

I hate it when that kind of $h!t happens.  = /

BTW; did you get the Oil pump parts you needed? It looked like there were plenty of offers so I haven't open any motors yet.

Godffery,
Thanks for that generous offer but it looks like I am covered. I just gotta make it down to tweakin's house to pick one up. He has a couple. Appreciate it!

Mick,
Hmm, I didn't think of that. I hate being "that guy" though.

at the least he will be aware that the website is misleading and could piss off many future customers. They care about that kind of stuff. Good business.

So I got a wild hair today and decided to put my engine in the frame. I was waiting for my heavy duty head nuts from Voxonda so I could have the convenience of putting everything together and degree the cam on the engine stand.  With the Gordon frame kit installed I said screw it and went ahead and lugged it in the frame by myself. Wasn't as hard as I figured it would be, I just I had to get creative with a jack. The hardest part is hooking up the damn steel braided oil lines. Those always SUCK!

I also dropped another batch of parts off at the coaters for some gloss black powder. The rear fender, headlight bucket, brake stay, brake arm, Tarozzi fork brace, fuel cap, and lower gauge covers.

Well of course the day after I got impatient an installed the engine in the frame my head nuts arrived. Just the way it seems to go for me. So after about an hour my top end was installed and I got the degree wheel installed. Now I just have to figure out what the hell I'm doing.

No AC but a plentiful suppy of cold cerveza works wonders.

I have used Jeff many times but when I have small batches its not worth the drive or hassle of dealing with him.

Branden,
That Tarozzi  fork brace your fitting does that fit your  K lower legs OK ?  I was looking at their website ages ago and thought they only done  braces for F legs.  If they fit my K legs  I'll grab one , saves dikking around trying to machine it.
cheers Johno
