A sound investment. A friend of a friend owns one of the eight Honda NR750's that were officially imported into the UK. In 2007, he pulled all the money out of his retirement fund to buy it, which freaked his wife out, but a few weeks later the GFC hit, and his retirement fund management company went broke. Looking at the price for NR750's now, his wife probably owes him an apology. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I cannot believe they won't sell the 215 hp race kit to the U.S. and the base version is only around 100-110 hp!!

Nice! Is it the road going H2, or the track only H2R mate? I just checked pricing, $33K for the H2 and 60K for the H2R! Still, I could buy three H2R's for the price of one of these Honda's........... ;D

H2R - race only, unregisterable....he now has this and his 2 x ZX14 drag race bikes also. Not sure if the H2R is going to be run down the track or not at this point.

He does well and gets low 8's out of his stock motored 14's

For-go funeral expenses Terry, use the extra to cover insurance and at least get one good ride.  Your dear lady can kick your arse to the curb when she's done with you, and not be out of pocket!

Ha ha, thanks mate, insurance companies must tear their hair out sometimes, I know two guys who destroyed their new bikes on day one, (a ZZR1100 and a Fireblade) one walked away and the other bought a new ZZR as soon as the doctors said he was good to go! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I would not go so far as to call the bike as a whole a huge let down.  This is, after all, a hand-built HRC MotoGP race bike.  With the race kit, it is VERY close to an actual race bike, that hardly any of us could push to the limit.

The price ($184K) for the bike without the race kit is pretty high, especially when compared to the Ducati Desmosidici Race Replica which sold in limited numbers for about $75K.

The Honda is a HUGE let down.

Only in the US and France apparently, the US model is restricted to 9500 rpm {101 HP}, the rest of the world gets 12000 rpm {around 160 HP} with the kit option taking that out to 14000 rpm{215 HP}, at 170 kilo's dry weight {160 with kit}, i'd take this over the fat old Kawasaki any day... ;)  {if i won the lottery}  ::)

I am sure that whoever can shell out $184K for the bike can manage to buy the kit overseas, even if they are only going to use it for non-road purposes.

The part that surprises me is that it is 2.5 times the price of a new Desmosidici RR (the Ducati $72,500 MotoGP replica sold between 2007 and 2008 with 197.3 hp.  And the Duc included the race kit with the purchase price!!
