I have an ongoing CB750 K2 build that I recently heard was brown from the very beginning.
The color must Brier Brown Metallic, right?
All bike photos I've seen on old bikes specified to be Brier Brown Metallic show a more a dirty graphite like color without any stains of brown in it. Maybe old bikes forgotten outside for years.
The earlier K1 Candy Garnet Brown look as a brown color.

I have seen that Yamiya750 has Brier Brown Metallic, photos on their site look closer to black than brown.
http://www.yamiya750.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=157_270_168&products_id=2572
- Anyone that has a fresh Brier Brown Metallic tank set from Yamiya and can provide sunshine photos?

I have a 72 in that color and to be honest I put that shade pretty low on my favorite color list,no disrespect to other owners. Just not much of a 'pop'. Not a real brown per say either, color is quite hard to describe.

I'm sure others have that color if the bike was delivered with it from the very beginning and ensure its originality.
I hoped that Yamiya might have a slightly different version that shines and sparkles more.

My Candy Sapphire Blue tank from Yamiya is darker than my K6 original that is a lighter blue, almost like K0 Candy Blue Green. Maybe it look better too.

Pictures don't do it justice. I took this bike to the swap meet at Davenport Ia and everyone went nuts over the color. David Silver spares took it home with them. It's 2013 Honda accord tiger eye pearl with the 72 stripes because the white really pops next to the pearl brown.

Of course it's not exactly the factory color. It's better. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ej6i4BzqCEyVMElE2

FWIW, and prolly not much, this is my '73 Maxim Brown Metallic.  Seems a little brighter, and since this is still the original it has lost some luster.  And no, I did not want brown either but after my 7 hour bus ride to pick it up, they were flying out the door so fast I had to settle for the brown.  Have learned to "love" it.

Don R, that look more brown and better than the Brier brown I have seen.
A shiny redish-brown metallic or candy with flake under would be a nice combo with the K2 stripes.
Or if the brier brown should be more brown-black with sparkling flakes in the sunshine. It might need to be a candy for the deeper sparkling feeling.
I feel that the bike need to get a color around the brier brown since it was born that way.  ;D

That combo might get closer to the beautiful Kawasaki Z1-900 colors.

Never see the brown K3's around. Have been looking for a nice one for a long time to round out my collection but no go yet around here. Wonder if they did not make many in that color that year ?? or guys repainted them a lot ??

When left in the sun a lot the original brown faded into green and looked awful so most of them got a repaint and not many guys went back to the candy paint.

Not sure they could sell them.  Compared to the luster of the other colors, this brown sucked. Now it's a "classic" brown.

This sounds more like Candy Garnet brown.. PeWe  you should look at That one, wrong year but much nicer than the almost black brier.

Yes, Candy Garnet brown look much better. I wonder if they paint as said Honda did, red on green or similar?
Maybe they have matched a candy direct.
http://www.yamiya750.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=246_157_270_167&products_id=1814

That color with K2 stripes that has white meeting the tank color.
As seen here on the K2 Olive green that is another alternative to the dark Brier brown.
http://www.yamiya750.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=246_157_271_242&products_id=2655

I'll check how much it will cost to paint the old original tank with new side covers and compare with new set from Yamiya.
Paint with all small things for the job cost a lot. Primer, base coat and candy + stripes with 2k clearcoat before and after. I wonder if it will be worth the effort and risks doing it myself compared with new and perfect finish from Yamiya. I have small paint guns, compressor and garage.

I have seen that and all photos. I do not see anything I call brown except the corroded inside of the tank. More like a dirty graphite - pale black with purple mix. Reminds me about when I was a kid mixing all water colors I had into a dirty muddy paint. Yamiya photos look much better, still not brown except for the name.

That's why I started this thread to see if there is any brown color at all in Brier brown.
Attached photo from an earlier owner show the bike in the 70's. Said to be brown and look as other Brier brown photos.

That is candy kent brown.

brier brown metallic is not a candy colour and really dark.
Candy garnet brown is a green metallic base with candy orange on top.

It would be fine if the Brier brown could have more metallic sparkle on the dark base.

The 77-78 brown look like a good brown.
So far the K1 Candy Garnet brown is the only brown for K0-K6 bikes.
I have not seen any photo of Brier brown paint where I can see any trace of brown color, fresh paint jobs included.
- Why is it called Brier Brown when there is no brown in it?

PeWe, my pal had a 73? briar brown 750 sorry I have no photos of it, but yes it's darker than the garnet brown, not as dark as the Yamiya photo. I don't necessarily trust computer screens and internet photos to be color accurate. Maybe you might ask Yamiya to take a photo in better lighting if you are interested in that body set.
I got a small chip on my tank recently and went to Ford for a touch up pen. It is not a perfect match but close enough for a small out of the way chip. The automotives have many new vehicles in brown/bronze/copper.

+1 on the original paint fade to green. Mine was always garaged but faded bad and ugly. I think the modern paint and clear coat is not gonna fade or stop shining.

You can find the colours on my page:

http://www.tanklackieren.de/Honda-colours

Brier brown is indeed brown but very hard to get correctly on a photograph.
It is the same with exel black which turns deep purple in sunlight.

I guess I need to see a real bike with Brier Brown. I have seen your homepage, the Brier Brown look as the tank photos Yamiya has, same color and tone.
The Candy Garnet Brown look really good.
The alternative with custom paint is another solution. Find out a sparkling darker brown. Brown pearl or candy on a darker paint with small flakes. Maybe always red on green?  K2 stripes.

In 73 I bought a Brown cb500 four, it was gorgeous.  It would go 100 two up in 4th gear. (Thought I was in 5th) I think it was the fastest color that year.

I start to get other ideas, Silver and Candy Bucchus Olive are also available with K2 stripes.
Silver will match my car. I have not seen any silver CB750 as I can recall, cars however a complete other story.

Silver was only for the Japanese market.
It is actually the base colour for many candy's (saphire blue, gold, red, etc)
They simply didn't spray a candy colour.

Silver was only for the Japanese market.
It is actually the base colour for many candy's (saphire blue, gold, red, etc)
They simply didn't spray a candy colour.
Yes, I read somewhere that silver was for japanese market. More I see it more I accept it as a K2 color :)
Thanks for the background of the candy paints. Like Hondas Candy Garnet brown with red candy on green metallic. I read was a resque of green tanks with minor flaws and high production with high demands producing bikes to cover orders.

What about Brier brown? Also a mix of different layers? The old photos has tone of purple...

Brier Brown metallic is a 'straight' metallic. Not a Candy.
