Put my new seat cover on. This is a saddleman cover not great but pretty darn close (I believe about 50 bucks) thats the most money I have put in one part (besides material) yet, but it sure needed it

i suppose so, I was looking at a similar tank yesterday and was sondering if it would fit on my bike.

it probably wont just be a "throw it on and go" type of deal. the frames (i believe) are quite different. then you will deal with fit of the seat to the tank.

I hate to do it but I was reading craiglist this morning, this is the ad-I have a very nice, and also very complete Full Vetter SS fairing for sale ....I just took it off a CB550 K....It is silver in color, tall windsreen , storage both sides, headlight , wiring , turn signals, mouunting brackets.....ETC, and as a bonus I will throw in the Shoei? saddle bags which have the turn signals integrated in them...I'm heading north for the weekend but they will be sold to the first responder............And quess what I was the 1st responder-Is that a good deal? Might take away from the bike but I suppose you could always remove it. Also never had a fairing before but it might be comfortable and the bags would be great for the store and such running. Here I go again throwing a few more bucks in the budget build. Owner says we could pick it up next weekend.......later luder

The owner just sent me some pics. Glad to see it has the lowers so it is an ss model. These bags are so retro-maybe just the thing for store running, heck that's a six pack apiece ;DNot interested in the other stuff as I took them off mine. My shovelheads going to be jealous. Maybe I should mount everything up (painted to match the bike of course) get me a bright yellow vest and a open face helmet and just make the neighbors talk. I can hear it now...what the heck was luder thinking. Keep you posted as project starts the down hill slide...later luder

Well I have been slacking on the bike (busy at work) I put the point plate on tried to put it the same as the old marks, set the gap and thought she would fire up. She is flooding out my plugs seems like she is getting to much fuel, I just want to hear her run nice. Then I can get my new tires,front spokes on,rim painted,exhaust painted or wrapped,licensed, and take her for a putt,any input from you mechanic minded people....luder

Hey luder, don't get discouraged.
It sounds like maybe you're not getting enough fire!
Is yours a 77 like mine?
Pull your plugs and clean em off with some starter fluid or something, dry em off with compressor air. Check for spark. If the points are good, but they're not igniting could be a bad connection at the coil, or maybe a bad wire.
If your bowls are like mine, theres a little screw at the bottom, open them up and get that gas out of there. Put the screws back in, Put the plugs back in. If there is residual fuel in the cylinders, pull the choke and give her a couple cranks with the gas OFF.
If it doesn't fire still, well we'll go from there!

Thanks Ink- New Plugs,trimmed 3 wires,replaced 1, new caps, and it seems like I have decent spark. I am just hopeing that I don't have to pull the carbs again (had a heck of a time with the old boots) shes a 78- by the way congrats on getting your up and going, and I like your new pic

Hmm... Well, I've had my carbs on and off so many times now. (i think 78 has the same carbs as me.)
What do you have your mix screws set at?
Like 1.5 turns out? or more or less than that?
Also, did you put the air box back on too?
Next time you put the carbs back on, use some lubricant. I used some silicone spray. I spray a little on my finger and rub it on contact surfaces, it worked better than warming the boots and boiling.
