i pick this one up over the weekend for $200 with title! the previous owner said it hasn't been started in 2 years, but ran when he parked it. i'll get a battery and gas and see what happens from there. it's missing a side cover, the exhaust has some holes, and there is some oil around the head gasket. i'm going to try to keep a log on here of what i do to it. who knows what it will look like a year from now. it might be chopped and bobbed or it might be restored with a more classic feel. only time (and $) will tell...for now here is what i have...

You did better than I did the weekend before last, called at a yard sale in NJ on a Sunday and bought a bicycle, while talking to seller he told us he had sold 2 early 70's Honda 70cc Trail bikes and a Yamaha YZ80 on the Saturday.

dont be suprised if you have to got thru the carbs. not hard though. I f you need help there are lots of how to's on here.

Congrats on the purchase. I have never gotten a deal like that!

someone told me that the carbs on the 77 and 78's are crap and that i should run older carbs on it. do any of you back this?

It is my understanding that those carbs were an improvement over the older ones.

i second the no. the later carbs have accel. pumps and I think are better carbs. I think the rub is getiing kits for them, but you likely wont need kits. just a thorough cleaning.2 cents

finally got around to buying a battery. put some new plugs in also. the electric starter didn't work so i kicked it. fired up in 3 try's! it rides great! now i'm starting to dream...anyone have a 4 into 1 header they want to part with?

Mine wasnt a garage sale...but sold in a garage!

but I did get it for 750.00. Only costed me 59.00 to get mine running. I think i got off pretty easy on this one.
