Being a hard core distance runner (before my recent surgery lol) i'm always interested in cool new running gadgets and shoes and stuff...I came across an ad for these in a magazine recently...VERY tempted to order a pair and give them a shot.

Lol, well I promised my girlfriend i'd never wear them for anything but "sports stuff"  running, water stuff...etc...which I most certainly agreed to. I wouldn't be caught dead in these at the store haha.

I bet for rehabbing an ankle or foot problem they would be great.
I use to like going barefoot but ain't as tough as I once was or the gravel has gotten harder.
I think I'll check them out for fitness stuff.

i've had a pair of these for 3+ years now.  blue w/ gray bottoms.
it took a while to get used to the different gait required to minimized pounding.  but my feet are less tired, and my back less sore. I play a 6-8hrs of tennis each week, and put these on after.  my feet likey!
Great deck shoes in and around the pool.  

i get the strangest "wtf!?!?" looks. :D

As a suggestion, get the EUR measurement for your feet at a shoestore.  
i ordered based on my US size and they didnt quite fit properly, so i had to send back for the correct size.

I love mine... wear them all the time during the summer.  They're great with injinji socks under them, too.  My feet used to kill me after all the walking at work, but since wearing the VFFs in my spare time, I don't have problems anymore.  my two cents is to try some on for real, then see if you can score some cheaper ones off ebay... and the KSO ones are way better than the Sprints for comfort

i love mine!!!  can't wear them at work, so the new blanaces go on here.  but i try to wear them everywhere else!!  i actually got told NOT to wear them at my gym, but i asked them where the rule was against them and they couldn't find it, so they stay at the gym now too!!  woo!!!

but ya, takes awhile to get used to the new gait, you need to walk more on the balls of your feet first, almost a good flat foot step.  but after just a couple days, your legs start to feel stronger, posture better, back stronger, just so many benefits!!

the problem with normal shoes is they're trying to fix a problem that was never there in the first place.  all the big shoe companies thing that you need this ridiculous amount of support, when the human body is DESIGNED naturally to go barefoot!  the only thing that shoes are good for IMO is cushion for a job where you're standing all day (but even shoes are bad for this) or if you're running on any tricky terrain or hiking.  and of course snow skiing and motorcycle riding!!   8) 8)  other than that, just casual walking around and daily things, these are perfect for protection from the unexpected glass or other trash on the ground while still letting you be barefoot!!

oh ya, if you have to get a size bigger than you'd like, go buy some toesy socks at REI, they work really well!

Barefoot vs. shoes is kind of like putting squishy springy material under and around leaf springs to make sure they don't 'spring'.  your foot joints are soooo much happier being able to move- once they're used to it again. 

I've got the all-black KSO so since people don't often look at peoples' feet anyway, no one seems to notice when I'm wearing them... which is all good.  I'm not that much of an atention whore anyway.

The stride is a little different, you do really want to land on the ball of your foot first- a heel strike is felt clean up to your knee and "reminds" you "hey, this way."  I tend to pronate a LOT and have big sesamoids at my big toe joint, so if they're angry at me after a lot of walking and abuse, the five-fingers somehow chill them out, helping me distribute my weight more evenly.  It's weird but cool.

I'm getting there...having 2 hernia surgeries in roughly the same spot within 2 years of each other is NOT fun. The first one was a disaster...it should have been done when I went in with it in the first place but they scheduled me for surgery 4 weeks later and told me to go to work i'd be fine. So sure enough it got MUCH worse and the surgery was major. I was out of commission for almost 2 months after that. Now this one wasn't as bad but they had to deal with scar tissue from the previous one and the patch seperating blah blah...

so anyways now i'm looking at running shoes and being optimistic lol. But I still can't drive very well yet, or lift more than 5 lbs...fun fun. I'm just hoping to be healed enough to ride soon! Oh and so I can get that freaken 4-4 exhaust squared away.

I did order a pair of these in the mean time. The KSO model. I figure I can wear them around the house to get used to them.

good idea colin!  they'll strengthen your legs and back up in no time!  just take your time re-learning how to walk properly.  if you need some guidance, just think about how you would run as a little kid, or how you feel when you're standing up on your toes.  then make sure your feet try to feel like that when you walk.  it takes some getting used to, but once you feel it right, you're stuck!!!  i wore mine to the gym tonight, got on the treadmill for a warm up, and i was doing 8 mph in a super long stride on a 6% grade, felt GREAT!!!  then proceeded to do a nice leg workout in them, these def. helped everything out!!!  i LOVE the damn soles for my feet!!  :-D

My feet are actually very tough, from years of barefooting, especially when I was a child. We had a oyster shell driveway that didn't bother us barefoot. When we got a blacktop driveway we would have "hot foot" competitions in the summer, to see who could stay on the longest :D
Not saying a piece of glass wouldn't cut me, but it sure wouldnt cost anything for me  :D
BTW, me and the wife may be heading through your neck of the woods sometime saturday, any good places for a beer?
