I agree 6372. Prices are going to continue to climb

99% of the time the bikes on ebay on other sites that are listed for sale are going to be at ridiculous prices. Patience, and a lot of times just being at the right place at the right time is your only chance of finding these bikes and being able to get a fair and honest price anymore. These bikes draw attention don't they. I was out on my KO several weeks ago and was asked all kind of question and how seeing one brought back all kind of memories

Hopefully they will continue to rise as the price of new bikes rise.
That being said they are currently in fashion and riding a little bit of a bubble.Things though can change in the future as I have found out from being in the Antiques business for well over 30+ years.Things that we thought were valuable and would hold their price have severely fallen out of fashion and are reflected in their price and demand.Other items such as 50's-70's furniture-retro etc. items were never even considered not to long ago are now hot.One must try and predict what the next generation deems to be their desirable collectible. Anybody remember the model T and A,s ??
Try and concentrate I think on getting those unmolested originals if you can as they are only original once. Saw a GT350 Mustang that was a garage find original,faded,some rust etc.,not even sure if it was running sell for $350,000 at the Barrett-Jackson car auction last night.

I agree what peolple are saying about ebay prices, there's so many odd games go on on there I would much rather look at what genuine auction houses are reporting. Though, nobody is selling nice 400s at all, very odd. Anyway, here's a few I've spotted -

I can't find the auction results for the Carmel August auction that had the AJS Porcupine - I expect there would have been some other top prices at that one, though the AJS didn't sell.

What other auction houses post their results up? Any in mainland Europe or Japan would be interesting too.

I saw the result for the sandcast but was a little uncertain of the claim that the engine and frame are correct. Close to 500 number difference seems a little high. Any thoughts?

I think on mid-price bike.. which most Hondas fours are.. that the auction prices at the big bikeonly auctions are a bit soft.. part of the reason is..less people will bother attending the auction and SHIPPING to pick up a 750 that is available often enough. Now if you are talking a Vincent or a boardtracker, that is 50 K and up the travel and shipping plays a smaller part.
So the mid-price bikes often go to dealers for showroom inventory, they still make money on them.. often a single buyer at the big auctions buy 20-30 bikes.. that has to lower the aifare shipping cost per bike by a lot...

Right now prices are going to go upo, I am pretty sure..

Its funny we are all talking about the prices going up. Its just going to make buying bikes and parts more expensive. Its not like I'd part with any of my bikes. lol.

In the UK prices are rising fast too, however, dealers are jumping on the wagon so hard that the wheels are falling off! - But for good money £5-6000 for a k0 /k1 you would still get a restored near showroom bike. From what I'v seen, British restorers are very very picky. Same bike with a couple of odd non standard parts or a faded paint job could be well under half that. Lots are being bought by investors, who will never ride them! - At least the chopper guys are bringing back to life what is often non worthwhile junk and supply fea-bay with a supply of fresh parts for restorations. If they stopped nobody would be able to afford to build! Complete rebuild out of honda stock? £40000?

I am pretty sure the guy that bought the big group of 400-4s..DSS, I think is going to put that model on the map, and make out like a bandit.
Its actually a nicer looking SS than the bigger ones.

Looking at ebay last few weeks I have noticed the prices continue to soar!!!!!!!! Gas prices will increase them more. Are we starting to see 3-5k for a decent 750 to be the asking price, I think so!

I hope it'll stabilize. When too much money is invested it gets less and less fun just owning the bike. Sucks when plans for the bike might start to be dictated financially - ie will that paint job not original to your particular year hurt resale, or something stupid like that. Just a totally different mindset than picking up a $6 or 700 runner to cruise around on for a summer or two.

Paid $2500 for my all original (except exhaust) 6800 mile K6. I didn't really care what it was worth it was just the only one that was in decent stock condition that I found in my 2year search locally. Now you guys have me thinking I should fog and store it and find a different one to ride. Up to 7400 miles now.

Move to the midwest. I'm in MI and I consistently see CB500s and CB750 going for under 500 that just need some tlc.

This looks like a good thread to get this off my chest. I recently let a 550 get away because I wasn't quick enough. The bike was locked up but
missing NO parts and with title. The guy wanted $200 and let it go for $150. I may be sick again.

I'm not going to get into a political discussion but that's not how it would work.

The 'economy' is weak because of the fed continuously printing money out of thin air (inflation). This means that if the 'economy' got better, that would mean that inflation is going down to us. If that were to happen then the dollar would be worth more and the bikes would be cheaper. But this has never happened since 1913 when the federal reserve started. So don't hold your breath.

I don't look at most things like it's gaining value. Usually 95% of the time it's the dollar loosing value.

This is why wealthy people don't hold on to their wealth in the form of US dollars. It's in gold, silver, other commodities, and investments that are inflation proof.

They recently finally able to do an audit of the fed, and found out they just gave out $60,000,000,000,000 to big banks. Free fake money

I liked it better when the prices were down. I know I have one and it is worth quite a bit more now than when I bought it BUT I did not buy it to sell it. I bought it for the hobby of it. The main reason I did not buy a Harley this time around was price. I wanted something inexpensive to putter with along with my son. If the prices keep going up they way they are we will lose many "riders" and they will be replaced with "owners". They wont be on this site learning how to wrench it, they will be on other sites learning how to sell it for more money.

I am all in favor for making money and flipping vehicles but I must admit that I hoped it would not hit this segment of bikes for a while. I liked it better when you could buy them for $1.00 per CC.

At least this is not a 'BUY HIGH, SELL LOW' situation..............I am waiting for delivery of an original-owner's K0 diecast in original condition. The owner died and his son wants the bike to go to a good home. If I buy it, the price is right.......but I know it is worth more and already have an offer from a collector ........maybe its worth more? BTW....it belonged to a H.D. VP in charge of quality control. I'll let you know how it turns out when I get it.
