Meet Scottly and whoever else in Joshua Tree at 5.

This sound about right?

I'm thinking of trying to get there a little earlier than 5, but that may depend on the temperature sunday morning. Any idea where you will stay in JT? (I don't mind riding in the rain as much as camping in the rain.)

I haven't been able to fix my gremlin yet. Bike goes completely dark when I try to use the starter, then comes back on after a few seconds. Picking up a new battery tomorrow evening in last ditch attempt to reconcile it.

Got a voltmeter? ::)

I think the question should be "do you know how to USE a voltmeter?" lol

Yes, I have a garage full of goodies. My description of the problem is not very detailed, but trust me in that it is a freakin' strange thing happening when the battery tries to deliver that 55amp starter juice. Everything blacks out, and then comes back on after several seconds. Like I turned the key off and on again. No bare wires, no blown fuses, starter checks out, starter relay checks out, terminal cables check out.......praying it's the battery.

This started happening last Tuesday, after I had already changed my oil and readied the bike for some long miles. I noticed at first that my electric tach needle was jumping around like the signal was "dirty." Two days later this crazy gremlin surfaced and I haven't been able to catch it yet  :-X
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

;D Connect the meter to read the voltage at the battery with roach, uh, I mean alligator clips. Hit the starter, and see if the voltage goes away, then comes back. (my guess is bad ignition switch)

I have no idea. I'm not even gonna bring the camping gear though. I feel the same way about the rain. Just let us know where and when you want to meet. I'll be leaving tomorrow morning and don't have one of those fancy phones w/ internets on it so give me a call on Saturday or something.
So much to do, so little time.

Speaking of fancy phones, does anyone on this weekend's ride have one? If not, we need to have a contact willing to relay the current status of the relay to the masses. (Matt, I will be around to answer my phone on Saturday, so feel free to call when convenient for you.)

GZ 2.0 on reigned over my 500 as Geminimotors (Mike) synced up my carbs yesterday.  Good thing one of us knew what we were doing (it wasn't me ;) )

I have a fancy phone so we are good to go on that front.
I just spoke with Matt and he is leaving in about 20 minutes.

CAN EVERYONE THAT IS GOING TO APE MEET AT 9:30AM ON SUNDAY  (Sorry for caps, not screaming just want it to stand out)

We were thinking that meeting at 9:30 will give us time to leave early if we need to beat the rain or we could lounge about at APE if it is not stormy?  Pat I hope that works for you...

As far as JT goes I just plan on finding a decent looking motel and staying there..figure there should be rooms to spare since it is a Sunday...Weather is supposed to be nice there on Sunday

Matt is going to be at the Devonshire starting Saturday night and I plan on meeting him there and riding over to APE with him.  Hopefully you can make it Sean...

It is going to be raining and very windy in Rosamond on Sunday.  Not  good  riding  weather. I have not asked the track about making a lap as I am sure they would say no because of the rain.

Pat did not sound like he was going to make it as it will be snowing up where he lives.

According to the weather channel, at 8:00AM Sunday, it will be 43 degrees, 0% chance of rain, and 8 mph winds for Rosamond. That's as far as the hourly forecast goes, so with any luck, they will be headed east before the rain hits.
(I thought Pat lives in Rosamond??)

I'll be there at 9:30 sharp if all goes well. So is anyone still camping in JT? It's suppose to rain at night but it should be clear in the morning according to the forecast. There won't be a fire but I'm bringing a flask to keep me warm.

OK, I will go up and talk to the track. Pat lives way up in those mountains you see behind the track

Monday would be the most convenient, since I will be coming through there on my way back to Humboldt. If you can't make it, I can ride back down on Wednesday, maybe.
