I know being out the $50 is a drag, but at least you'll have peace of mind that they will get it done and done right (nothing lost in translation in pictures and email if it's on their bench). Just look forward to your pretty new wheels!

Got my laced wheel back today from Buch's. Everything looks to be in order so I will be getting them to the guy that is going to true them her shortly.

Thanks to the generosity of some fellow SOHC4's I have been able to sell enough parts to procure a new wiring harness, petcock, tires, tubes, and rim strips. Still waiting on my buddies co-worker that works at a Ducati dealership to true my wheels, but once they are done I can get the tires mounted and get this thing into a rolling chassis. I can't wait to get things moving along. It just seems I keep staring at the same old parts collecting dust in the garage.

Really frustrated. My wheels still aren't back in my possession from being trued. It has been almost a month. The timeline that was given was about a week. I was OK at two weeks. three weeks starting pushing my patience, now at 4 weeks I am getting pretty pissed. However, it had to get too upset because of the price I am paying to have them trued. It just sucks sitting here waiting to do the next step to move forward.

Add to the fact that my health issues flared up again so I went back in for another cortisone shot in the neck.

I did get a buddy to make an installation hook for me. He dabbles in blacksmithing so he made this out of an old drive shaft.

Picked up the wheels from the guy that was truing them today and promptly mounted and balanced the tires. Tomorrow I will spend the day finishing the build of the wheels and getting the bike into a rolling chassis. It is like Christmas part two. I am so excited to actually make progress.

She is a roller !!!

It took a bit longer than I thought. Aligning the front brakes was a bit of a pain and I had to remove some of the powder coat from the hubs to get the brake discs and rear sprocket on.

And of course I had to sit on it and make VROOM VROOM noises

Thanks man. The neck is starting to hurt a fair amount again. The Navy is great at providing pain relief, but they suck at actually fixing the problem. I can only get three cortisone shots in a years time frame. I am down to one more and still have about 6 months left on my time frame.

Onto good stuff, sort of. I was going to install the engine today, but can't. I was sorting out the engine bolts and brackets yesterday and found two brackets I didn't powder coat. So I will have to take care of those before I can get the engine installed. So I will install the kickstand and get to work manufacturing a small bracket for the gauges. The bracket for the 750 gauges doesn't fit the on the GL1000 triple and the GL1000 gauge bracket rotates the gauges into a weird position. So I will make something and get it powder coated as well. Plus I still need to figure out a bracket so I can install some different foot pegs. I need to get them up and back.

Well today was a monumental day for me. Frustrated from work and not wanting to sit inside and watch football while the weather was gorgeous I decided to install the engine. It went remarkably easy thanks to the wife helping me drop the frame over the engine.

The bars are an unknown manufacturer. I have a set of Tomacelli's as well. I will use which ever feels better.

The tank will be blue (the same color as the frame) with a gray stripe (the same color as the forks) the width of the idiot light housing running down its length. I am also planning on painting the knee indents in gray. I am not sure on the side covers. I can't decide which color to go with (blue or gray). I am trying to line up a custom paint job for something on the covers themselves so that will probably dictate which color I go with.

Hit another stumbling block last night. I was installing the clutch cover and found one of the screw holes is stripped. It won't let me torque down the screw. Once the screw just starts to get snug it pops through. So now I guess I need to install a heli coil. Damn that stupid tool is expensive. Plus looking at the heli coils they seem to be kind of short in comparison to the length of the screw. When I go to install it should I run it all the way to the bottom?

Had to take a break last weekend from the bike while it was absolutely gorgeous outside. I built a 4x2 shelf for a friend. In trade he bought me the heli coil tool. I had all of the wood rough cut in the garage so all it cost me was my time. The top is blonde wood and the sides and legs (in the back ground) are white oak stained in a cherry color.

Today I was able to get the bike and drill, tap, and install the heli coil. It was pretty nerve racking since if I goobered it up the case might have been ruined or it would have cost me a bunch of money to get it fixed. However, everything worked itself out and the cover is on. I also received the dowel for the alternator cover so I was able to install the left side covers. I now know why a lot of bikes are missing the cover that goes over the front sprocket. That thing is a royal pain to install. I would have taken some pics, but since I am in the middle of snowmageddon 2013 I didn't feel like pushing the bike outside.

Nice carpentry skills there Harsh.

I've never had trouble installing the front sprocket cover but it is easier if you install before the shifter cover. You use socket head screws?

You should see the kitchen cabinets I built.

Ahh...I installed the sprocket cover after the shifter civer. I did use SS socket head screws. I got one of Z1's kits. The only screws I have are two m6 x 7mm screws. I have no idea what the go to.

I got all the covers on and fitted the coils with new plug caps. I did some mock ups with the headlight and gauges. She is moving along, but sloooowly. Things that I look at and say "oh that will only take me 10 minutes or so to put on" end up taking hours. It is frustrating, but in the end it will be worth the time I am putting in. I am just dreading that day when I have to take apart a whole bunch of stuff because I forgot something.

I am in a little bit of a time rush. I want to have it running by May so that I can tweak on it and have it as close to 100% as possible for my trip to Deals Gap the first week in June.

I need to finish the wiring. There were a few pieces missing that I have to figure out. Figure out the wiring for the new switch controls. After that I guess I need to get the carbs, airbox, and exhaust on. Finish re-building the gauges, replace the springs and shocks, and on and on and on.
