A couple of years ago we had a dust storm that blanketed the entire east coast of Australia, these are a few photos that I found on the net of it.

The Milky Way is 130,000 light years wide or 186,300 x 60 x 60 x 24 x 365.4 x 130,0000= 764,607,392,640,000,000 miles.

It would take 726,570,000,000 years as fast as my 750K6 will go to cross it.

Nice picture eh?

One of the visionaries suggested a solution to rising sea levels/ climatic change was to use one of the deepest below sea level places
in North Africa to channel water into. Make a canal, harness the power as the water runs in, make an inland sea that makes power as it fills up.

Sounds pretty genius to me, and  North Africa gets a brackish water source.

Well...I suppose someone should ask them...do they want large bodies of brackish water splitting their countries?  If Africa (502 ft)has to take
one for the team maybe we should ask Israel (it does after all have land more than twice as deep 1388 ft) and California (only half as deep 282 ft)
to join in the fun. ;)

Do you know the background on that photo?  Great shot but it must be a composite photo or photoshoped.  It takes a long exposure to get that detail in the sky and by doing so the background will blur as your camera tracks the sky.  In the old days we used to do things like that with film cameras.  We would take a close up of the moon keeping in mind where to place it in the frame depending on the background shot.  Manipulate the camera to cock the shutter without advancing the film and then take a long exposure shot of a cityscape at night on the same frame.  Now we have digital magic. ;D

The domed hills are of a park in Australia, Purnululu National Park. APOD says it is a composite of 8 photos therefore I suspect this implies digital photograph; butthoonose?

I have taken B&W photos of the sky thru a small telescope that was kept pointed toward a star by slowly cranking one transport axis. Some of my old photos would include trees in the distance if I was photographing something close to the horizon.  The trees would be very clear and detailed  if I tracked the guide star well.

Today 500 dollar scopes have motor drives to do the same thing as my hand cranking, much more accurately.
