People are stupid
« on: June 21, 2012, 06:00:31 PM »
I was on 66 going to DC to baseball game and in heavy traffic there was a BMW motorcycle in the lane on my right side.
There was a Hundai in front of him and suddendly the Hundai driver flipped a cigarette butt out of his window and hit the biker in the helmet with it. I saw the sparks fly and it was clear, that a$$hole did it on purpose.
Why do people so such stupid things? I checked his license plate just to know it and the MC driver rode next to him for a spell and gave him piece of mind - I was ready to step in as a witness, but they separated on the next Fairfax exit.

Greetings!  Your post makes me a bit homesick!

I'm from the SF bay area, but I've spent the last 8 years in the DC area, the last 3 years of that was living on my wife's family farm in Catlett off Sowego RD.

I used to work at The George Washington University and the general $hitneckary I saw on 95 everyday was amazing!

I am a pretty good shot with a cigarette butt. I only do it to people in cars behind me of they are pissing me off. About half the time I get the drivers window dead center.

I would never to it to a person on a bike.

It's now illegal in the UK to flick butts at bikers.  :P Seriously, you get a fine for even dropping an apple core from a car.

Why do people think its ok to throw their trash out the window anyways? You have all that space inside your cage and you cant find a place to put that tiny little butt til you can find a trash can? Lazy and trashy.

Buy a new car in the UK and you can choose a smoker option. For £10 they provide an ashtray and cigarette lighter, in the car not in your pocket. :)

The UK is a more evolved Society than the US. Meth heads, Coke heads, Alcoholics are sick people addicted to a substance and need special help. Those addicted to Nicotine are deviants about 2 steps above Pedophiles.

It all started with the Puritans that were thrown out of England for being a pain in the ass. I really wish the Mayflower sank. Everything people don't like is demonized in this place.

If I bought a UK car I would always be trying to get in the wrong side.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I had a jerk throw a butt out of his window which bounced off my helmet, so I went back and picked it up, and flicked it back thru his window. When we pulled up at the lights he leaned out the window to give me some abuse, so I punched him in the face, really hard. He was pretty stupid, but I think I might have cured him. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

You might have, at that, Terry.  But if that same scenario happened here in the U.S., it would have made the guy more stoopid*.

I went on a ride last week with about 20 other bikes.  Twice had someone in a car or pickup cut into the pack.  I told a friend of mine who rides with Detroit's best known outlaw club.  He laughed and said a couple of weeks ago a guy cut into their pack and laughed.  At the next light only the pack left on the green light.  When the guy's eyes opened there was blood on his seat (his) and every window was shattered.  That's how to roll in the "D".

Not sure of what the Mythbusters did , but I heard they'll clamp your toes into the boot if you get 'em run over by a forklift.

Steel toed boots without a steel shank in the sole are dangerous.  It doesn't take a heavy impact to fold up and snip off toes.

Oh OK, I saw the Mythbusters episode where they debunked the "Steelcaps snipping off toes" theory too, but to be honest, I don't remember whether they were testing boots with a steel shank or not. Is the steel shank connected to the cap, like some kind of internal skeleton? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well, not to turn this into a Mythbusters thread, but I don't always put my trust in what they find.  Entertaining? most definitely. Case in point, they did a show on fuel economy, A/C vs open windows, using a Ford Bronco.  I can't remember whether they said "nodifference" or "A/C uses more gas", but my van gets 2 to 3 more MPG with A/C.  I chalk it up to a difference in aerodynamics of different vehicles.
