ive heard story's from the 70's that V&H did a gear drive in a SOHC ,maybe their Pro stocker ?

Evening, nice cranks! Bear's plan sounds like fun.My 900 crank weighs 26lbs...now, what do those weigh? Bear the more I think, the more it hurts! Seriously got lots of questions, will put together a list.What's the quickest ET for a down under N/A CB750? Gary Pena ran 9.03 @149.×× back in 75.

Been confused by the petrol market ??? I was on the Sunoco race fuels web page looking at gas and with no alcohol allowed and a diaelectric doo da of 15 or less for LSR gas class  ??? :o sent them a enquiry.

, the boys from sunoco fuels got back to me today, 
Re my Honda CB 750 MG750 I sent them engine specs , dyno chart and also a computer engine analysis etc class gas rules etc

Their responce;

Mark:

From an octane perspective your engine could use any of our fuels. But if you are limited to no alcohol, that eliminates a lot of fuels. We do list the alcohol content of the fuels that have alcohol in them.

On the unleaded side, you could use Optima or 260 GTX. Given the heat, I'd recommend the 260 GTX if you want to run an unleaded fuel.

If you are looking for a leaded fuel, Supreme would be a good choice. It's fast burning which works well in higher-RPM applications.

Re. timing, you don't need to push the timing to the point of detonation. As you're probably aware, there is an ideal timing point for each fuel and air/fuel ratio. A fuel should have sufficient octane to allow that ideal timing point to be reached. High octane fuels will allow timing advance beyond that ideal point, in which case the fuel will still prevent detonation but you will be wasting energy and heating up your motor. So, especially if you run Supreme, don't push the timing to the point of detonation, as I'm sure that point will be well past the ideal timing point.

For me his last comments were good as on my engine software analysis it showed I had a detonation problem right through the midrange and warned me to back of the advance until 7 or 8 grand ( redline 10,500 rpm) then bring it on. Thats probably why he is making the point on timing.
Anyway I'm happy , I will give the the Pizza Supreme a go,   ;D

Mate I cant believe how complex the wold is getting. I grew up on two fuels, BP  Avgas and BP methanol,
life was so simple. Now you got to be a chemist to decipher oxygen, dialectric jazz.   I hated chemistry at school, too busy chasing shiela's and kicking the footy  ,   physics was my bag, as soon as the teacher mention Newtons law about making things get going , speed etc man he had my full attention.

I'll let you know if power Plus have an equivelant to Sunaco supreme.   I like the idea of having detonation under control, well under control as the ambiant heat is not good at 45 deg C plus like last year.

A bloke was showing me his dyno charts on 1000 suzuki for the salt,  one with Avgas and one with the Sunaco supreme........major difference batman.........especially in the midrange where he could get some advance in.    He was full of praise for the product.
The other thing I was planning to enter two classes, gas and fuel...MG750 and MF750  swap number plates over, along the lines of methanol is a pain in the butt so I'll run gas in both classes.   But with all this rocket fuel available I might try one of these big oxy superfuels....just to see in back to back runs if it makes any difference.

Hi guys, been  a while since I posted anything to do with the bike BUT its too bloody cold in the shed tonight and the gas bottle heater has run out ( minus 3 deg) so posting a couple of pics

So got two frames for small motor, got carried away and it all started with thinking I should takes some spares to the lake, then I thought maybe a spare bottom end and top end, then maybe spare motor, then maybe a eng frame to transport it, then I thought use a spare bike frame, then I thought I could put the optional diam wheels on , and on and on and on, finally spare bike..........funny how things evolve  ;D

Anyway this is the spare frame a K7 frame with crappy rust spot I have to fix, but it is straight and true.

This is the crappy rust spot, usual story , frame was powdered and blocked the drain hoe at the bottom.....so always check after recoat or powder

I use this stuff to pour inside the frames, I drill a couple of holes here and there up in the head , use syringe to fill the  turn the frame everywhich way to try and get a good coat on the inside of the frame tubes.

oops, forgot to stiffen the spot weld section.

Rather than tig it I chose to bronze it as the metal is very thin, and has been flexing etc so I felt the tig would concentrate the join in a small area and may actually weaken that part of the tube where as the bronze would creep into the lap joint section and bond over a larger area,     anyway made me feel good.

A stock swing arm for the spare frame with bronze bush ....just in case the skinny 21 inch v rated idea doesnt work and I have to run wider 18 inch Z rated
