The F1 frame had a bent swing arm so cut it and will use the pivot to use on the longer skinnier swing arm which is set up to run the front wheel hub in and will have a disc brake from a CBR 125 rear end to keep as narrow as possible .

best I could get it was .004 thou, I was happy with that as I had a new one and it dialled up at .004 as well.

The springs were badly match so I swapped them around with some others until i had matching pair,
i checked them with a tube pipe and a bathroom scales, spot on, dont even need to shim them, I went to the trouble of drilling one of the top fork tube plugs to make them adjustable , but wont worry about them now.

First coat of colour, i know its not best o judge until the second coat but in the shed light the colour yellow is looking real flat and not FAST like FERRARI yellow ....I do like the Honda F yellow but tried something cheap,
yeh I know , will probably rub back and reprime look for a better yellow......its journey grasshopper.

got two options at this stage , a new cable tach from later 750, or the small electric tach, better for windage but likely wont be able to be read in the glaring hot sun , maybe use the cable tach to set up bike and dyno etc then tell Pete to not worry about a tach, just hold it flat and hang on, bloody tach , just something to worry about , who needs stress hey pete.

I like the options you are covering. I am taking a little different approach..........starting with a frame from an automatic to make head or motor removal a lot easier.............would like to run 21" wheels but likely to settle on the narrowest set of 19" on 1.85 rims because of required speed-ratings. I'll use a very light drum-brake on the rear

But first I have to complete my current effort with the Triumph Cub..........we leave for Bonneville in 4 weeks and still have a lot of work to accomplish

Dennis and Johno, just a thought before you find out the hard way like I did.

The F and Auto frames are different at the back end.
If you put a K motor in a F or A frame, the chain is out of alignment.
If you fit a K swing arm and rear wheel, the left side shock will not be in alignment.

A 77/78 k should fit fine in a F or A frame.

Re the 21 inch versus 19inch I could only find V rated for both those sizes so I went for highest and most rear contact patch, what has been tempting me Den is in V rated can get a cross tyre with lots of grooving suit the big BMW type offroaders and if traction was a problem they would be tempting to try.

But with V everything stops at 150mph and if the class record is 149.7 like mine

?? thats why If the scrutineers beat me up I will have the 18 inch Z's ready to go, or as a back up for bad handling traits

Sam, 754, thanks for the reminder as both my engines are early K's both frames are F or K7.

I have that many different output shafts, shocks , rigid struts .........and a 5 inch grinder... nothing will stop me lining up something.......it certainly is a juggling act, the reminder was timely though as one swing arm for 18 inch Z's is stock and that had slipped my mind.

Johno, if you use the earlier K motor in the later F frame all you need to do is use early K swing arm and rear wheel and shorten the top left shock mount, It's about 5/8" of an inch longer than it has to be.

I just use a straight piece of flat bar.... It works pretty good if you know how to use it.
We have floating sprockets up front, not being careful can end up with still having misalignment.

Hi Retro,
Just brought it from their web site.
I have been using it for lots of things as the laser is a fairly wide beam,
eg wheel alignment , frame alignment, just made a few gadgets to hold things or aim at.
The same company makes a nice specialised aligner but with a few bits and pieces the chain aligner can do the job, check there site out bro

Sam I just checked by trusty box of goodies and I have a cycle X 520 offset sprocket to adapt the early K motors to the F or late K frames / swing arms.

I would appreciate some forum help on something though,

When I started planning the project I had a few early K gearboxes.
I purchased the undercut gears from Cycle X, then started to look at tightening up the 4th and 5th gear ratio's I wanted to tighten those two ratio's up nice and close.
The easiest option was to buy the Nova gears and they were approx $400. each.

Then I looked at the early K 4th gear and the F or late K 5th gear and it was pretty close to what I want so I emailed Jim at Cycle X and asked this question..........will the 5th gear ratios of the later gearbox fit on the early shafts ? or can I swap out gears to make it work ?

Jim wasnt sure , so before I buy a used F or later gear cluster of ebay and see if it can be done ?
Has anyone had a play with early and late gears together
