If a truck fitted with an extra large fuel tank is used to murder a schoolyard full of children, are you going to then say society would be safer if we ban all extra large fuel tanks for the general populace?  I am, of course, assuming you personally have no need or desire to own an extra large fuel tank.
that was a pretty petty comment directed to a member- after he voices his opinion- talking down to him as if he is a child

Sir you are confused. The thank goodness part was part of your quote that got mixed up because I'm typing on my phone. Youthink it is an absolute right, you are the one wishing it is something it is not.  It is  already limited. The discusion if there were one is about where that line should be.

Again I'm done. This is now just a waste of time.
Its limited by law. I think those laws are in conflict with the Constitution. When those laws are contested, like the Washington DC handgun ban, the Supreme Court sides with the Constitution in overturning them. It's a process, i can accept that. And yes I think its an absolute right. I do not accept that there is a line. I support those who fight for the right, and oppose those who don't. That's how it works.

"Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. said: "It is clear that the Framers . . . counted the right to keep and bear arms among those fundamental rights necessary to our system of ordered liberty."

There is no qualification as to which arms, or where or when.

I see no pettiness in his comment, he is making a point whereas you decided to direct a personal attack on him.
Hence the pettiness comment.

Well JeffSTL, I just read a poll right here that 92.35% of forum readers disagree with you about your poll, what do you think about that?
I can conduct and produce all kinds of polls that will support just about damn near anything I want it to.
And you keep saying you are done yet I still see you here posting away.

luap, please stop with the personal attacks on TT, you are beginning to really show your pettiness here.

Sorry I have a hard time not ccorrecting facts. I'm trying tto quit. I feel like i'm swatting flies now.

I would lend you my flyswatter but you may disagree with the tool I choose to use so I will refrain from doing so.

And what are these "facts" you feel you need to correct, I do not follow.

I feel like my comments were well reasoned and topical.  If I have offended anyone I APOLOGIZE It seems this is purely political which is limited by this forum.

To be clear I never said you don't have the right to own a gun I have a couple myself.  Again, sorry if anyone was offended by anything I said.

I don't think anyone misunderstood that you don't want that right taken away, you want limits. We understand that.

The argument regarding any gun bans is not political, it is semantics. People CHOOSE to make it political to further their agendas.

Like I said before the second amendment is quite clear in what the writers envisioned and they were thinking about the future and technology when they wrote it.

Funny no one has mentioned the violence in Ireland and warring that previously had caused lots of deaths due to guns and bombs. What role did GBritian have in that conflict?

That's a different kettle of fish. That was almost civil war not criminal activity.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

With all facts, evidence, myths, etc...laid out on the table, this case will be 10+ years long, and he might walk away as a free man and costing tax payers millions of dollars. Guilty or not, we all loose. Just my 5 cents.

No, as lawyers like to say this case will be a "slam dunk" for the prosecutors, it just depends on how long they want to drag it out and what they want to charge him with.

He is being represented by a public defender who is paid decently but not anywhere near the private practice lawyer salaries.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this subject.

This phrase should be automatically tacked on to every post in any thread regarding gun control, oil, helmets, dynabeads and planes on conveyor belts.

FYI,my 18 yr old nephew was just shot point blank range and killed.By his 'buddies' he hung out with, one was a loud mouth, show off, loved to play with his 9mm he bought on the street, they all thought it was Bad ass.Until the gun went off while they were being 18 yr old boys.I used to think
differently about guns,I was a friggin jarhead, war, medals, seeing dead bodies in war is not nice, when its your own family, its different.I dont wave a flag anymore.I think we as a country have a problem, just my opinion.

I think we as a country have a problem, just my opinion.

thats alot of people's opinion my friend , including me..     ..if you ask me, the glorification of war in general is a big part of the problem .  our government pushes war down our throats pretty much from birth, .. little green army men,  water guns that look real, "support the troops" stickers and t-shirts ..  and i swear to god i'll have an aneurysm  if someone says "freedom isn't free" one more #$%*in time

we march around the globe telling the world how to act , but we're so shocked when someone does it home ...

....sorry man , i'm half in the bag already , and maybe this isn't the thread to sound off in right now

I am sorry to hear about that also Bart, guns can be very dangerous in the wrong hands.
I agree with a lot of your points about our fair republic but I fail to see what that has to do with our second amendment rights. I am not trying to sound like an uberpatriotic, flag waving, gun totin' Uhmerican goofball.

Your points about the patriot act and other acts our government have taken against the public make our second amendment rights that much more vital as our country creeps slowly towards a police big brother/nanny state. Cameras at every intersection, on the highways, gun shot microphones, black box rooms at the phone companies.
