The city of Aurora does not allow open or concealed carry.

Be careful, Rafster: know your laws.
http://www.rmgo.org/concealed-carry-guide/summary-of-colorados-concealed-carry-law

Hondaman, sorry but Aurora has some of the stricter controls than most of the state. You are not allowed to have concealed carry of dangerous weapons, discharge a firearm unless you are law enforcement, or have a loaded weapon in a vehicle.
Denver also has more restrictive laws in place than CO CCW state law...

That being said...
Sb03-25 in 2003 declared that the municipalities do not have the right to control gun laws and preempted the laws of all of CO gun laws are those set by the state. That made Aurora and all other city gun laws unenforceable by those cities. Thus they can be overturned in court

Denver file suit against the state for that law.

Sheesh, I'm sooo glad about that Dukie, that your not trying to sound like an uberpatrotic, flag waving, gun totin' Uhmerican goofball. Very well said IMO and needed to be said, thank you.

I really am the exact opposite of that statement. What I ultimately am is a concerned citizen of these United States when people start to have knee jerk reactions to unfortunate events without taking time out to think and seriously debate the matter at hand.

I think a bigger question we should be asking here is why did we close all the state mental facilities to help treat mentally sick people such as these? A case that comes to mind recently was the Omaha mall shooting where the kid was let out of his treatment facility because his mother's health insurance ran out and there was nowhere for him to be treated.

I hear ya and I agree,I am talking about the way of thinking.canada is a young nation as we are relatively speaking and they dont think the way we do,maybe they are not as paranoid. The Aussies and Brits have good points and I can see the problem from their view,I'm not going to argue with them about it because I happen to agree with a lot of it.I wont get a gaming system because when my 6 yr old comes back from his cousins house all he wants is guns(toys of course)because he spends the whole time shooting up bad guys on the screen. Its so accepted in our society that guns are 'Fun'they are not.Sure blasting 1000 rounds out of a 50mm machine gun is fun,but I got over it.Also,we have small arms, they have Drones and Corporate $$$$ to back them up.Sure if the sh*t hit the fan it will be a nice fight, but I would rather plant flowers. My wife is Canadian and my kid has dual citizenship,I am very close to saying 'eh' myself. The past 30 yrs in this country have Jaded me to say the least. Here's a joke I like,(not that any of this is funny, but its fitting)'you know the good thing about all those Guns in Texas?Fewer Texans.I used to be an anarchist, survivalist, doomsayer, but after years of pain and heartbreak(and a kid)I just want to relax. Thanks to my Wife, she kind of mellowed me out. Also, actual War sucks.I didnt like it in the least. Some marines do,some get off on it.

Thank you Dukie.A HUGE problem we have is not taking care of our Ill,Mentally Ill.Or our own F*&$ng people for that matter. All in the name of freedom and capitalism.I would rather live in a place where we actually give 2 sh*ts about our sick and old people,to be honest ,I am pretty disgusted that we let this happen.

Well, I have the perfect solution to that but most people would never hear of it. Cut the Offense budget we spend here by half and spend that money on National health care for everyone here. People would still be allowed to buy private insurance if they want to opt out of the 'commie medicine system'. Sure most people probably think it is a pinko idea but I would rather see that money go to truly help people than kill people. Even with half our Offense budget we would be spending many times over what the second biggest spending country spends on their defense budget.

Ya, more government control,(especially by the left). That is exactly what this country needs.
Drop our defenses and give out more hand outs.
Tax the evil rich, take all the guns away,(except for the criminals), demonize freedom and capitalism.
Your right, this problem has nothing to do with politics.

Wow scrap, you amaze me with the generalizations you throw around so effortlessly.

Everything wrong is the left's fault, huh?
I wish that were the case here, so simple, so wrong.

Agree completely about the Offense budget. That and lets just have our troops defend ourselves, our country. If the brown peoples who are not christian want to killthemselves because its part of the 1000's of years of culture,so be it.F' em,let em kill each other,I for one want no part in being the worlds police.

Yes, all of the challenges against that law by the municipalities have been overturned. It is still concealed-carry everywhere. The only 'special exemption' that has been allowed is in Denver now, where open carry is not permitted in the city. This is current law, per the last class I just had. I'm sure someone will now think that they must challenge it again, which is why it is wise to keep abreast of the monthly updates.

So what kind of oil should I use on my guns?

I've heard that Rem-Oil is waaay better than CLP but I still think WD40 is better than either.

Yeh I'm really am curious why is it a Left thing I would have thought that it's usefull thing I mean if you are IN and hurt or wounded they fix you and yes they send you back to it, but they fix you because they want you to go back and be better than the villians right, so how is that different  from wanting your citizenry to healthy mentally and physically be able to compete with the rest of the world, to be well educated and be well. Why has that to do with Nanny State or Left wing any thing, mind you I think if your'e going to have a fighting force every one should be available for it men, women, politicians, rich, poor, lawyers, dentists, doctors, scientists, you get the picture. I guess the lefties, righties haven't figured out yet, that if your nation is strong and healthy you can compete better with the ROW. I also think that guns don't make you more able to compete, but brights, do no slam against any country mine is just as bad.

So Bill, what kind of oil do you use?

 :)
Before microwave popcorn was invented, my mom used Wesson oil, in an electric popper. It was a metal vessel with a rounded bottom, that sat in the base unit, surrounded by glowing red coils. Mmmm popcorn... ;D

Stop that. You're makin' me hungry! I had one of those [contraband] poppers in my college dorm, had to set it out on the 3rd floor window ledge to make popcorn, else the dorm's RA (floor supervisor) would come and bust me for using it. Ah, the conservative days of schools yesteryear...

One of my best friends, his wife and 5 children visited us yesterday during a roadtrip from CO, and spent the previous night with us as well.  They live in that area of Denver and were considering going to this particular Batman preview in Aurora.  In fact, 3 of them were in theater 9 to watch another movie just 2 days before!

I feel selfish in being glad that I'm not saying goodbye to my dear friends, their family has already lost so much in losing 2 newborns from birth defects.  But... this hitting so close to home, I do feel more of a sense of loss than usual.  It makes you think of all of your personal relationships that may or may not have gone awry and what can be done to mend them before they are gone.

I haven't talked to my dad in almost 2 years, what if he died at a midnight movie premier?  How would I feel?
