The tank you've got is K4-K6.  Left side fuel valve is what gives that away.

Looks like a good start to a project!

....but it has a 17" rear wheel?

Looks like a HD 16" wheel, a very common mod back then.  Why you replacing the clutch if you haven't tested it?  May not be necessary.  I would start by getting a battery (Sears $50) clean the carbs and install. Then fire that Frankenbike up and see what it does.
+1
Clean it up, fire it up and take it from there.

You now have the perfect excuse for a custom!

Stev-o,
the reason I mentioned the 17" rear size (you can read it on the tire), is there MAY be a sprocket offset difference with the early frame/late wheel combo?

So I have decided to attempt to sell the bike and look for a nicer bike.  Actually I should clarify, I have listed the bike on Flea Bay, but have second thoughts about selling it.

Here is the ad (Tons of pictures plus a video):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=330860454983

I am now thinking about keeping it and making it my own build.  The only thing standing in the way of riding it now is the front brake.  Someone please talk me into keeping it !!! ;D

Get it running and I bet you'll change you're tune on selling it, haha. Look at it from this stand point, it's not in stock mint condition. It's put together from different years of cb's, it has a title. You basically have a blank slate to do with what you want and not worry about hacking up a stocker. That's reason enough to keep it and get it running again.

I am a self processed newbie, but I find this bike amazing.

I am trying to estimate what I would need to do to get my bike both rideable and similar to this.  Though thanks to the time on this site I have a new found desire to also find/restore a more original early CB750.

From one newbie to another I'd say hold off on selling it. You're so close and like the others have said once you are able to ride it a little you'll probably change your mind. I've been back and forth w/ mine over the past year but as soon as I hop on it and go ride it around for a bit I always change my mind.

Good luck

I just might keep it, depends on the final price at this point.  But if it sells I have my eye on a nicer and pricier bike, so I won't be walking away.  Aggie, can you post a picture of your bike?

Sharp looking bike.  I like the God Bless Texas, good reason to have a front fender, but that blue one looks awfully nice without one (though the riders shirt likely wouldn't.

funny i have that same blue bike pics saved as something to go off of as well. I really like that seat. There's someone here that sells those rear hoops for 50-60 bucks. look in the parts that guys are selling and you'll find him.

Thanks. I was running w/out a fender but actually like it better it fills in the gap in the front and makes the front end look tougher I think. Plus not having water thrown in my face is pretty good too.

good luck w/ it man.

If the blue 75k 750 look is what rocks your boat, then you have the almost perfect bike to start with.  Running, cheap, streetable now.  Sure beats taking a more expensive stocker and spending good money to have a different look.  Here you have to spend some money regardless of what direction you go but it will end up with less invested.  Keep her and have your way with her.  Make it your own.

And a couple observations, to my untrained eye, I think your rear wheel appears to be a stock 77/78k 17 inch steel chromed wheel.  The giveaway is the raised center where the spokes are mounted.  And your idle speed sounds low.  Try advancing the idle to 1000 or 1100 rpm and that chain rattle should go away.

Good luck to you whichever direction you choose.  Stickman
