For connectors? Steel wool/Emory cloth, to polish, rubbing alcohol to clean, compressed air to remove any leftover particles, then treat w dielectric grease.
you can go buy electrical contact cleaner for them (deoxit)
For everything else, simple green, brake cleaner
Brake cleaner really is the best stuff for cleaning anything
And it will be ok for the OP to send you the bill for new switches when the brake cleaner disolves them??? Even some of the contact cleaners of today will raise hell with the plastics in the handlebar switches from these old bikes. I speak from first hand experienc on that. Best to be very gentle with those old parts.
