I would be willing to run 200-300 from STL. If there's someone around the Iowa way I could run up there as well.

Here is a link to the Team 5 map that was generated from the sign-up list. Disregard the riders to the north that belong on Team 6. If there are any omissions, please speak up.

Is there a chance Tango911 is still in on the trek? He could bring GZIII from MO back to IN and I could pick him up from there. If not, maybe Madscientist could bring him east from St. Louis and I'll meet him somewhere.
It looks like the liz will be in Columbia on the 20th or 21st. I could try to meet sometime next week and get him on to 70CB750 in WVa next weekend. GZ might like to "horse around" a little in Lex before he heads into the hills.

Hey Jerry:  Change this post.  I don't think I'm the correct contact @ this leg.

I'm handing GZ off to Nshadadi in Lawrence KS, sometime around noon on Sat. 7-20.
Nshadadi and crew take GZ into MO.
They will arrange the next meets in STL, and beyond.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

How's GZ getting out of MO? Who's the last leg from team 4? Looks like he's going to be in central MO early next week. That's ironbutt distance from Hooterville KY.

Looks to me like Fenton, Mo is only about 400 miles from Lexington, KY, depending on the route? If you meet halfway, that's only a day ride, and you can sleep in your own bed that night. ;)

Hey, Team 5,

Popwood here. I've been off the forum for quite awhile now, but was involved in the original 2011 GZ run and did some of the blog posts for Motorcycle Classics. I'm in Cincinnati and wondering last minute how I might be of help moving things along in the mid-west. I see Magna-man is in Lexington, less than two hours south of Cincinnati. Perhaps I can move things east from here or Lexington. I'm up for suggestions, but riding all or most of the way to DC is more than I want to take on. What can we figure out?

I'll be monitoring responses. Don't want to be a last minute newbie flake here. And a big "hi" to Jerry and Madmountain and others from a couple years back. Glad to see the GZ tradition lives! You have all done an amazing job coordinating and contributing to this crazy scheme over the past couple years.

As it looks now, I'll be meeting madScientist somewhere in IL sometime soon and bringing GZ back to Nicholasville. It appears that the lizard is almost in MO. From there I'll go to VA to meet Rockin-M, sometime soon. I'd love to have someone to ride along. It might keep with the theme if you do come because I don't have the "required" transportation. There just a big gap between MO and VA and I wanted to keep the tour going.

Magmaman, geez, you are planning to put some miles down in the effort! Good for you. Let me think about how I can accompany you for part of your ride to Virginia; perhaps to Charleston, WV. It's a pretty ride through the Blue Grass state in that stretch. Will be in touch.

Wow... this is coming together quickly... excellent!

I was thinking we should try to put together a draft Team 5 schedule with hand-off dates, locations, and riders.
This would help with planning (it would really help me) and I think it would also help us get more riders to meet-up and ride a little with us.

Thoughts?

I'd love to find out more about the dates. I'm waiting to hear where GZ is myself.

Steve, the first part is probably just going to be crunching miles on I-64. From Lexington to VA will be the best part of the ride. We're talking about possibly meeting at Breaks Interstate Park in VA. The first part is 4 lane on the Mountain Pky. After that the riding gets a bit more fun. Its about 180 miles from Nicholasville. We could meet in Lexington and go from there.

When I hear from madScientist about his schedule and anticipated handoff, I'll get on the next part. Its definitely two separate days of riding.

Magnaman --

Is your plan to make the Lexington/Virginia trip over and back on the same day? While that seems reasonable, adding the Cincinnati/Lexington legs on both ends may be more than I want to take on. I'm not a "long-hauler" and haven't been on a long trip with my 550, although it has never given me a problem in the 5K miles I've ridden her. And there are only 11K miles on the clock.

I mentioned going as far as Charleston, WV because I could peel off from there and go to Athens, OH to spend the night with my daughter there. Could be that I'd accompany you to Virginia but peel off for Athens at Charleston on return leg.

What's your best guess on departure day heading to Virginia?
