This is all well and good men, but who wants to argue my opinion that my big black 'Wang is the most impressive bike ever built? I mean, name me a bike built before the 1986 Goldwing Interstate that had an overdrive gearbox? Linked brakes? Hydraulic lifters? Air suspension front and rear? Anti-dive brakes? Really comfy seat? Hey? What? Ha! ;D

Oh, and good evening all! And to all the drummers with stringless guitars............ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hmm - Bimota's huh?

You should check out my mate Craig's SB3, ex race bike fitted with twin shocks by Yoshimura, converted to road bike.

One of the most impressive frames I have ever seen.

Thanks Cliff, and the correct answer was, drumroll............. the 1985 Honda GL1200 Interstate! (same spec as the '86) I'm always amazed at how little my fellow SOHCer's know about any non SOHC4. Well, technically, the 'Wang is an SOHC4, but you know what I'm saying............... ;D

Ooher, Bimota's are very nice jiggers, his SB3 would have been a road bike that was raced, then put back on the road, as there was no "race only" SB3 that I'm aware of? I could have bought one at Phil Beaumonts in Brisbane in 1989 for 3 grand, and a HB1 (the rarest, with a CB750 engine) for around the same money. Very untidy condition, but Phil had a half a dozen Bimota's leaning up against walls back then when no-one wanted one.

I sold my CX650 engine that I was gonna shove in my 500 frame to an interesting bloke recently, he's an ex-pat Kiwi who used to work for famous Kiwi frame builder Ken McIntosh. For very little money back then, Ken built him a special frame for a GSX1100 engine, similar to the one Dr Roger Freeth won Bathurst on in 1983. Ken made it especially to suit the guy's tall frame.

Anyway, he was almost killed on it when clobbered by a car, so it went back to Ken, who built him another bike, which the guy then loaned to Roger Freeth, who turbo'd it for him, and occasionally rode it up to his own death in 1993. It's back at the guys father's house in Wellington, and when his dad dies, he'll bring it out to Oz. I'm looking forwards to eventually seeing it. ;D

Morning all! ;D

I don't think you'll find a lot of bikes with a 1:1 5th gear so i think lots of bikes will have an overdrive box, for example, the GT750 was .92 and .96 to 1 throughout the models so they had an overdriven gearbox..... ;D

Are you connecting Dave's post to having said that in reference to Fenders? I believe it was in response to Someone's statement being a double entendre that his profile picture depicts Dave's response with regard to you given your profile photo. Not in reference to an act towards Fenders.

Being a proud member of the amazing CB450 club, I am on the Hondatwins forum more than I am on here.

Fenders is running a good rebuild thread there, and whilst I was sorely tempted to post a "boo! - the SOHC4 crew has found you" on it, discretion won out over #$%* 'n giggles.

Morning Terry - I just got a healthy income tax return, got any projects for sale?

I appreciate your maturity. It would be a bummer if my project log was filled with cb750 fanboys who can't see past their rose colored glasses. I'm not responding to them simply because I refuse to sink down to their level.

And yes, I believe the cb450 is the most impressive bike ever made.

Took my 8th motorcycle course yesterday, and my instructor is a huge twin fan. I was the only one there with a 30+ year old bike slamming tight corners. He has 3 moto guzzis. He likes my bike (a lot), but we both agree that the cb450 is the cooler bike. Actually, all my friends, colleagues, and instructors do. Sorry for the bit of realism.

Wanna know a true story? On the way stopping here at a most excellent beer market, I saw a cafed cb360 parked on the side of the road. I turned around and met the gentleman. He was more interested in learning about my cb450 (which is in peices), rather than learning about the bike I was on.

Sorry, but twin is back in style. Big time.  And I believe it will best the cb750 in 0-60.

The thread seems to have devolved to the level of a twitter war between 13 year old girls because one girl kissed the wrong boy. ;D  Not everyone's interested in being in the CB750 circle jerk. ;)

Retro tried a few pages back to get it back to an adult level and list some other bikes that you think would be impressive...I tried a few times ...but it just sinks back to a juvenile "stalker" level.

I guess I need to put an end to all this....

I took my 450 to a local track today, here's the poop-

0-60 in 0.3 seconds
1/4 mile speed too fast for the electronics at the track, it only displays 3 digits
1/4 mile elapsed time - it was a negative 2.1 seconds !!
That's right, it was so fast that it warped time and space, and I arrived at the finish line before I actually left the start line.
A guy with a portable dyno there measured it at 1,553 rear wheel horsepower - it's running a little rich, I think.
There was a guy with a 750 there, but he started to cry like a girl when I challenged him. I even offered to pull off one spark plug lead, but no takers.......

So there, that proves it.

What, you think I'm just making this up ??!!

If you put a CB450 in a 747 and rode it around the cargo hold on a flight from Sydney to LA you could arrive before you left...making it the fastest most impressive bike ever. ;)
