Hi - think you are right not to go with the graphic. It seems a little bit fussy to read well on that small scale. Something simpler would probably suit better. Maybe just the lettering on its own might work? I'm looking forward to seeing the bike complete.

I agree with ya Tom, as to NOT use that graphic.
It just looked hokey, and not something I would want on my tank.
As CHRISR said, maybe just the "home wrecker" wording done in a "old school" style ?
Just an idea.

Maybe some pinstriping on the TOP TRIPLE TREE ? ;) ;) ;) ;)

Man! What a piece of crap! It looks as if they just took the vector art and just pasted it up! In your first posting, it was obvious what you wanted! They just didn't know how to do it! The bomb looked like it was colored with a crayon! I wouldn't pay 'em either...I'm sure they water marked it so you couldn't use it until it was aproved (and Payed for), we do that too, but in your case it was inapropriate...you don't have time! With many of our clients, there is no "late"...if we don't have it ready for them in plenty of time, they don't need it! Keerapp! You have two days to finish the bike! Were they going to take that two days to "Develop the concept"?!!!

Now they are asking for the $75 for the artist. I say If he was better he would get paid. This is not like kindergarten and make the not so good kid feel like he won. Not everyone wins. I am going to do the lettering on the side of the tank in old glory stomper font. Check it out. The silver gradient parts will be "turned silver leaf"'.

Tom,
You may be interested to know that in Illustrator CS2 there is a live trace function that will convert raster images to vector art. I'm a graphic designer by trade, so if you need any help, let me know.

glad you were able to just say "no thanks" to the image.
a good pinup would really make the bike, but a bad one (like the one submitted) would only bring the rest of a good bike down.
On a side note, can't say I love the homewrecker font or graphic, but i am sure you have a plan as to how to make it pop.
if it turns out anywhere near as good as the rest of the bike, well.  kudos to you!
keep it up and quit reading our dumb posts! your assignment is due tomorrow!
good luck!

I'll send ya a PM.

And... I agree about the artwork. WWII girls were.... "softer". More voluptuous (sp?). Marilyn Monroe, not Pam Anderson.

Good thing you didn't buy that grapic. I think the artist was going for some sort of faded vintage look, but that's not the biggest problem. The right leg is out of proportion and in an impossible position. It's not just bad, it's wrong. Looks like a doodle I did in 10th grade. It would be beneath the quality of the rest of the bike. Besides, who doesn't like leafed graphics. ;)

With that graphic, you'd need to change the name of the bike to "Rode Hard and Put Up Wet".  :P

Agree completely about the graphic.  I work in Photoshop and Illustrator every day and that is just plain amateurish.  Every artist has their strengths.  This guy (or gal) is just not the vintage kind.  Should have had a tattoo artist draw something up, then scan and convert it.

Here's the fastest example I could find.  Show them this to explain why their graphic is too harsh/ unacceptable.
