Urgh.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Yuk!

That's a repaint isn't it? I thought they were lighter. The school bus yellow on the Wang is also ugly.

Just sayin.

Why do you take things so personal?  She bought a 30+ year old bike for $450, she didn't design it.

OP doesn't like it, that's his opinion, not doing it to spite you. You want everyone to think like you?

Is this considered southern reasoning? Ok, let me follow suit. I'll post his exact bike and paste how ugly the scheme I think it looks because it's just my opinion, especially with the un straight paint stripes and the tacky as #$%* looking yellow plug wires. But don't take it personal, it's just my opinion.

+1 745. Would not want any of my guitars painted by him.

This is called baiting. But don't worry, I'm not upset. But you did offend someone who is undeserving out of the complete blue, so congratulations! Didn't know making enemies was an activity around here. Good going fellas!

Fenders,

This place is much friendlier than most internet forums.

Ever heard that old saying, 'opinions are like a**holes'?

Here's some American reasoning for you: Get over it, dude ;) :)

You can post whatever you like and state your opinion, not a southern thing.  Is your GF a member and read the thread? If not, why would you show her if you knew it would upset her??
Again, why do you take things so personal?

Rats, Fenders has discovered my nefarious plot !!
It's true, I've devoted my life these past months to hurting his feelings and making his girlfriend cry.
Why?? Because a young girl's tears make me feel like a Real Man......that's just the sort of curmudgeonly Olde Farte I am.....
The half-dozen emails I answered from you with my help were all just a front - even when  I helped your dad (who seems a pretty good sort), it was all part of The Plan.

Believe it or not, my comments about the funky paint scheme were not directed at you or anyone else.

Actually, if all you can find to nitpick on my 450 is yellow plug wires and a curved tank stripe, I feel pretty good about that. You try coming up with something that deals with those slab-sided, bulbous CB450 tanks.
Considering the basket case I started with, it's ok with me.......

I needed plug wires, Mike's XS Shop only had yellow ones, so yellow they are. Someday I might replace them, but probably not unless they melt or explode.
Why not??  Because (and I know it must seem strange to you) I DON"T CARE WHAT YOU THINK !!!!
I have the same answer to all the cafe freaks who told me I needed to get rid of all the lights and put some Clubman bars and rearsets on it.
It's a Honda 450, it's not a racer - to pretend otherwise is just being a Poser - the whole concept reminds me of this.......

Seriously, Fenders, if you want to come on a forum like this and mix it up with the Olde Fartes who've done this stuff for 40-50 years or more, you need some thicker skin, dude. Stop worrying about what other people think, you can only please yourself in this life.......
You love the brown color and garish stripes, that's cool, be secure about it - stand up on your hind legs and take a bit of ribbing like a Man.
Mark Twain once said, "You wouldn't worry about what people think of you if you knew how seldom they actually do it....".

I get the feeling I would not like tbpmusics choice of guitatar finishes..

Gimmee a break, dudes - we weren't talking about guitars.
With that said, red works pretty well for guitars too.
Here's my "daily player", an LP-12, the photo makes it look more orange than it is...
Of course I didn't personally paint it, it's stock. Naturally if I'd painted it I'd make the bindings bright yellow and put a big curved stripe on it ......... ??? ::) ::) :o :o
There's also a cherry red ES, a green Jap SG-type, a yellow one, even a black Tele in the room right now.
No silver ones though........

That's exactly what doesn't make sense. Why would you be helpful, and then make a new topic only to show a picture of her exact same bike, down to the year, color, and even with the crash bars, and call it ugly only days after I post the build thread? It has nothing to do with me thinking you should think brown should be a beautiful color. It's just how you went about it. It's a tasteless act, and doesn't take much to understand that.

I assure you no one cried. If anything, she was confused, as was I.

I haven't "mixed it up" with old farts. I posted my humble build threads. You must have saw Brownie, and then went out of your way to be offensive and rude and make a new thread about it calling it ugly. That's cool if you think that, I don't really care, but it's not going make you friends.

Sorry, I don't play this game. Complaining about your plug wires and stripe is as far as I'm going to take this game because it's YOUR Bike and was your choice. I don't post new threads with picture of others bikes' and slam them in the name of "opinion". I like to think I'm more tasteful than that.

Carry on.

You're nuts, dude - how the !@#$ do I even know (or care) what sort of bike your girlfriend has???
You are one of many folks who email me for help, I restrict my interest to the technical and don't care about any personal stuff. I don't know nothin' about you or your girlfriend, you don't know nothin' about me, except that I'm one of the best with 450's and can help you avoid paying a mechanic.
I don't even read your build threads, sorry......

Why is a thread about funky paint schemes suddenly all about you anyway?
Are we in the 7'th grade here or what?

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=124863.0

Nope - doesn't look like many people did.
13 posts total in that thread, most by you. Only two others responded.
That's the interest level I'd expect at an SOHC FOUR FORUM.........
Frankly, I'm not interested enough to poke fun at you, your girlfriend, or her bike (though I'm sure she's a nice girl).

I only read posts that pique my interest somehow - either technically or in the absurd category.
That's what this thread is rapidly becoming now.......

When you play with Olde Fartes, you're gonna take some lumps, it's inevitable, they play hard.
Everyone around here gets made fun of, that's the way Olde Fartes are.

What the Olde Fartes are interested in is how you handle those lumps.
So far he's been...... well, unimpressive.........

It has been impressive how much like a whining crying little girl he has been. Complete with 2-3 year old behavior.
I don't think a spoonful of cement will help him...it would just form a lump in the jello.

Actually it was DEVO who had the concept of boneless chickens, way back in the 70's.
They were denied permission to build their own recombinant DNA lab, where they planned to engineer boneless chickens (among other interesting stuff). They never took it far enough to talk about a ranch or anything - it's all in their first full length video, "The Truth About De-evolution".
