I have a couple of questions regarding my wiring and how everything should be installed. I am using the controls that came with the gsxr front end (left and right hand controls) and am having some issues wiring them up. Here are my questions, hopefully someone can chime in and help me out.

bike is a 72 750k

1. the starter solenoid has 3 cables on the positive side (1 for battery terminal, 1 red and yellow with bullet style connector, a short, red, cable that i have no idea what it goes too). Does anyone have any idea where this needs to be connected too?

2.There is a short greenish color wire (non bullet style connector) that comes from the harness by itself and i cant figured out if its just an aux cable. It does have current when checked with the test light.

3. my manual only shows 1 fuse but my box has 3 of them installed and only the lowest one has power going to it. Any idea what the top 2 are for or what would cause them to not have current going through them?

Thanks for the help!

Mine didn't come with the stock fuse box so I am not positive but I think the other two slots are for spares ...

well, im not sure because the top 2 are different amp levels and the fuse box cover has spares on it so im guessing they do go to something.

I will upload some pics as soon as i have a chance.

i pointed at them with the arrows

the first cable is a light greenish color, it looks like a part of the dark green ground cable thats bolted to the frame but its not.

on the red one, dont mind the black cable connected to it. i was using it a power source to test my tail light.

Those are the two bad boys in question.

Not too sure if this is much help, but red wires are typically a (+) power wire that runs from the battery before the key ignition. Power supplied from the key ignition and onwards are typically black. So you rectifier, fuse and your solenoid could have red wires running to the battery.

Light green eh? Is it paired with another wire? If it was towards the front of the harness I would guess horn, near the rear, possibly rear brake switch. Look around at the electronics where the light green wire is placed on the harness. And deduct what it could hook up with.

Are you sure you have the right harness?

that greenish  wire isnt the one for the horn. I was able to get the horn working and that wire didnt have anything to do with it.  mmanaged to get the horn to work today.

the harness should be the correct one since it was the one that came with the bike.

The Yellow wire (probably has a Red stripe on it, too) is the +12 volts from the START button. The Greenish wire (should also have a faded Red stripe) is the ground side of that solenoid. So, ground the Green one, and apply +12v to the Yellow one to make it engage.

The 2 big terminals get connected together when the solenoid is ON. They are not polarity-sensitive: either one goes to the engine starter, the other to the battery (+) terminal.

Hondaman- I was missing a ground so i secured it to the frame to make sure. I finally figured out what was wrong. Turns out someone had previously messed with and spliced the original suzuki controls. everytime i was hitting the starter button it was causing it to short out.  a few curse words, some splicing and dicing of the controls and now it all works!!!!!!! thanks again everyone for your help.

almost done. Few things let to do. Finish fabricating/mounting the taillight brace, rear set linkages, front fender, sort out how im going to mount the headlight, new steering stops, and spacers for calipers. Sounds like a lot but im almost there!

also taking a poll..wich tail light do you prefer? Both of them have integrated turn signals. trying to keep the rear as sleek as possible.

They are both LED units. I just think the oval one fits a lot better with the look of the seat and gives me more space to work with since the bike is sitting pretty low. The square one is off a ducati monster with the sequential turn signals which is the main reason i bought it but seeing as i dont have much space i may be out of luck.

Re: 72 cb750 Project,GSXR Front end--no spark issues...

Have some updates. Finally moved out of the rented shop space i was working out of and now working from home. The bike was running before the move but now im not getting any sparks to the wires. I already checked the coils and the cables are all connected. Also checked my grounds and all are connected properly.

Would bad points cause me to have no spark? What else do I need to check?

Got it sorted out, the black/white cable coming out of coils were connected incorrectly and werent getting current. Now I need to do the timing since cylinders 1and 2 are firing correctly

Finally got around to wiring my acewell

mounted it on the top triple, drilled and tapped it and IT WORKS!

Then my dad (anti motorcycles)  came to visit this weekend and he hoped on for a pic after we got it running. spark plugs 1 and 2 were soaked and had gone bad after some wiring issues caused them not to get sparks.

Then while watching that 70's show found this bad boy!

Couple of questions for yall.

1.) cb550 swing arm is a bit longer than the 750 so my chain is now too short. What is the better solution, new chain(current chain isnt but a few months old) or smaller rear sprocket?

2. anyone make brake lines? the current line for my second caliper is too short (old wheel was smaller, 17 inch vs 19 inch) and now it rubs against the wheel.

3.) carbs seem to be sticking, not sure if its the cable or a bad return spring will be loading a video soon.

Thanks again everyone for your help, im almost there.  :o 8) ;D

I was adjusting my throttle cables last night to try to get the carb stick to go away. I ended up just adjusting the bolts that hold the
black wire|bolt][Screw][bolt][ on the top of the carbs and got it to snap back into place.

thats a really bad explanation....

OK......seat questions...............where did you get it?

Is it a direct bolt (pin) on?

And can you go into more detail why and what did you do to reinforce it?

Thanks

Jack

Also.....how much longer is the 550 swingarm......that is something I'm wanting to do to me 750?

Jack- seat is from dime city. its not a direct bolt on. the front part of it is a bit narrow for the 750 frame but barely noticeable. I ended up making a aluminum pan i fastened to the seat using threaded pop rivets. Then i inserted some studs using loctite to lock them in and fastened them using wing nuts and rubber spacers to dampen it a bit. Ill take some pics to show how i did it .

the swingarm is about an inch and a half longer than the 750 one so you will need a longer chain.
