Hi all,
Greetings from Haslett, Michigan where I am attempting to revive an old '77 CB750F so that I can do some riding this summer with a couple of friends, one of which is a member of this board.

Hey DJ_AX----

Thanks for asking. Shur did get it going! Saturday morning, 37 degrees. Started up fine---took a while to warm up. No plate or insurance yet, but my road is pretty quiet this time of day so I decided to wing it.

Rechecked the tire pressure. Got on, gunned her a bit---sounds like a freakin ferrari with my MAC exhaust!! Starts to really roar at about 4 grand.  Headed out the drive nice and easy, crazy goose bumps, heart pounding, hair standing up . Started slow to check the brakes, wow! takes a big dive when you hit the front brake but stops the bike for sure, Ran it up gently through the gears, taking it easy for the first half mile to the end of the road. Stopped and checked for oil leaks, any new noises. Nope everything A-OK. So I let er rip----ran her up to 80 or so revving each gear right up top. Soooooo Coooooool! I love this bike! I'm like a kid again! Wow!

Ya know, I coulda gone to the bike shop that morning and me and the bank could've ridden outta the parking lot with a brand new VTX1800 or say an ST 1300 and that would've been fine, but I'm certain beyond doubt I wouldn't have had anywhere near the excitement and the deep sense of personal satisfaction I had driving that 30 year CB750 up and down my road for the first time. To have those long hours of wrenching, adjusting, cleaning, researching, taking apart, putting together----to have it finally pay off in that moment was a feeling hard to describe but instensely pleasurable.  But I don't need to splain it, right? Cause that's why, gentlemen, we are here and that's why we do what we do.

Yeah, 6 to 10 of the white stuff for us. No prob though, ---still got some work to do on the bikes, won't feel so bad not wasting riding weather.

Hey transam man----what have you got to do on the 750F?

The bike now needs the carbs rebuilt. I also had to fix the ignition that had multiple problems, from bad points to plug caps to broken ignition wires. Mostly little stuff. The rear tire is severely weather checked, but I have a spare on a Kawi wheel that'll fit... I've given the bike a shot of ether and it fires up nicely-- I'm looking forward to getting it going as soon as I can finish off these carbuerators! The float needles are totally shot, but the rest of the carbie looks fine.

I'm hoping to get some helmets and gloves for the kids and let them experience the thrill of a trip to Ann Arbor via Dexter Trail.

Sounds great man----Post some pix of the bike when you get em.
BTW, I went to High School in Holt. Been to your town a few times for football games, etc. Used to drive to Plymouth to visit a girl. Kind of hazy memories but I think Dexter Trail is pretty twisty as I recall. Sounds like fun.

Dexter Trail
east of Mason is my favorite Saturday morning destination. Lots of curves (for MI that is), little traffic, good asphalt. As soon as I get my ride back together  - April 15th target date - I'll be there.

I refuse to ride on that beavertail any longer.

LOL.. My wife always likened the stock seat to the shape of a cockroach...

You guys up for a run to Holly on May 6th? It's rally time again (I posted the details on the events board).

Damn. Normally, I'd be up for Holly, but I think (barring work scheduling biting me in the ass) I'm going to be heading up to the Slimey Crud Run that weekend...

Crap.

OK. Plans have changed. Looks like I'm going to be around for Holly.

The next question is...anyone interested in riding from Ann Arbor? Or is anyone further east willing to not mind if I tag along? :)

I talked to Bob and he will be out of town that weekend, but the missus and I might be able to meet up with you halfway, not 100% sure yet what the plans are.

The best way from AA if to go up Pontiac Trail until you get to Milford Rd. You can then take Milford Road all the way up to Holly. 2/3 of the trip is through the winding country back roads, very scenic and fun on a motorcycle.

Hey guys,

I live in Montreal right now, but I'll be joining my wife in Ann Arbor soon. I'd love to come along for a couple of rides over the summer.

Please let me know!

ANyone around SW MI?? TedT and myself are both arounf the Kazoo area.
A good bike mechanic only needs two tools, WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move, but should, use the WD40. If it does move but shouldn't use the duct tape.

Charlie, Yeah! I'm in GR/Spring Lake/Grand Haven! Do you want to be part of the Michigan Mailing list? I'm Planning to at least go to the Antique Bike meet at the Gilmore Car Museum, and I'm trying to get a bunch of people together to go.
