Not too much to report here.  I cleaned up the head over the weekend, with a mild port and polish and dropped it off at the machine shop for a valve job with the cylinders that are out for a bore.

Spending time degreasing and de rusting many parts prior to sending them off to my powdercoater.

Parts started to roll in..

Good god man, not only are you cruising along but you seem to have a good amount of money set aside for this project. You'll be done in 2 months! Haha

Ha Ha.  I am shooting to have this done by spring but we will see.  I had a bit of cash rat holed away (hidden from wife) to buy a new dirt bike this winter but after seeing brandEns K4 I decided I needed a new project.

Today I replaced all the bottom end bearings.  Had a minor set back when I got into a hurry and screwed up the bearing shaft of the primary sprocket.  Luckily I was able to tear into one of my spare engines for the part.  Last thing I wanted to do but nice to have the extra's.

Got the rods installed on the crank with new bearings and F2 bolts and installed the HD main bearing studs.

After rebuilding my last three wire harnesses I decided to order one from cb750 supply and it looks great.  Does anyone have any experience with there harness?

All other bits are cleaned up and will go off to my powdercoater on Monday, then the "good to look at" updates will follow.

I bought the harness for a 74 750.. There was a minor color issue in the headlight bucket but it was easily solved. I will look for the thread where I mentioned it.

looks good tweakin, I used the cb750supply one for my K1. wired right up I believe...you'll have a spare brown wire and plain black wire. I jjust shrink wrapped the ends. everything works(ed) as desired. doesnt work now because its in a thousand pieces. if you want to browse my build thread I am sure I mentioned getting it and putting it on. don't recall any issues though. have fun with the simplified wiring....I am going through the opposite now dealing with the F2....too complicated.

Thanks fella's, thought I remember reading something like that.  I will be running modern controls and a few other updates, as long as the harness is close I should be fine.

cheftuskey121 I feel your pain.  I rebuilt two F2 harnesses, not fun.

yeah I don't plan on rebuilding it. I am getting a new one thats for sure. may just get another K1 harness. it was very easy to wire up, although they are all bullet connectors instead of the plastic box connectors.

Cases are painted just awaiting back and cure.  Can't wait to build the bottom end, thats one of my favorite things to do on these builds.

What are you using for paint on your motor?  Looks too good to be rattle can.

I always use VHT on all my engines and have had great results.  The key is the cleaning process; degrease, pressure wash, media blast, detergent soak, scrub out all holes, pressure wash and then wipe down with acetone.  It takes a ton of time and work but I think the results are worth it.

Tweakin, which VHT color are you using? It looks great; not too "chromey." RR

I have good luck with this VHT.  Bright with a little bit of metallic, but not too bright.

Not a ton to update on the Turd, still waiting on all the hard parts to return from powdercoat and top end from machine shop.  Hope they get done soon since I am off for the next three weeks.
Spent the weekend polishing bits and bolts for once assembly begins, forgot how much fun that is. ::)  Was able to tear down, inspect and cobble together all good parts for the oil pump.  only took three old pumps to make it happen.

Got the airbox all refurbished, including the Hondaman mod.

Installed the front sprocket including the sweet oiler plug 754 made, Thanks Frank!.

Last but not least I decided on a color for the bike.  I was going to go a modified stock look with Silver, but decided to keep the paint scheme stock and I am really drawn towards Candy Gold.  I can only imagine what it will look like in person.

You'll be happy with the candy gold. My K4 450 is candy gold, and there's a great depth of finish.  Love how it sparkles.

Took a break from building to do a mini pub crawl with brandEn.  Great time.  I think we finished the day with 5 dogs and too many beers...  cheers...

Started at the Red Hot.  Amazing space with a great selection of craft beer on tap and gourmet hot dogs to boot.  http://www.redhottacoma.com/  If you ever make it to Tacoma / Seattle area this place is a must.

Then we ended up and Engine House #9, great place with a pretty good selection of spirits.

We walked the entire time and no bikes were used during our beer drinking...

Yes Jerry, good times.  "Too many beers" was because I had to be home to watch my girls so my wife could go to dinner with friends....  All worked out well in the end.
