He did a few fab jobs at once, so I can't say what the tail piece would cost. He also had my bike there for mock up.

Got the new tires mounted and balanced and installed the Henry Abe wheels....mostly.

Turns out I have a 550F swing arm and the H.A.'s use a K style backing plate. I have three axles here and they all fit, BUT....
The spacer on the F swing arm is wider than the spacer on the K swing arm. Now the search is on for the proper spacer.

Long time no update. I've been working a lot, working on other projects and just waiting. I keep staring at the bodywork in the spare bedroom and get motivated from time to time.

I recently picked up another 550. It's always bothered me that the engine covers on the STF2 bike are polished and almost everything else is satin, matte or semi-gloss. So....I pulled the covers off the "new" 550 and cleaned/sanded them and painted them semi-gloss black. These will go on the STF2 bike and the polished covers will go on the new 550. Win-Win for me!

I dropped of the engine at 2Topia Cycles for some "Winter Filler" for them and, wouldn't you know it, they got swamped. Nate only recently got started on the top end work.

Bored for the high compression Yoshimura pistons.

Valve job, port and polish, match ported manifolds, clearanced for CB650 cam.

I love sweep the floor bikes.
A box of parts and determination is all you need to start. And before you know it, the parts of the forgotten are brought together to recreate yet another of Japan's finest that would otherwise be lost to time.

This bike looks great. I'm glad it's come out of hibernation. That paint color looks beautiful and unique with the satin finish.

Odd that you ask.....
I was told they were 0.50 over. The even have .50 stamped on the crown. In actuality, they are 1.00 mm over, for a displacement of 562cc.

I had a hard time finding rings but I now have a set on the way from Australia.

I've had a hard time definitively determining whether the Cruzinimage 600 kit, Wiseco 572 or the Yosh 562 produced the best power/torque increases over the stock with the 650 cam and a ported head. It seems like the higher compression of the Wiseco and Yosh kits make up for the smaller displacement increase and might even produce better performance. Anybody know for sure???

I just want it on the record that I find it borderline offensive that you swept your floor and came up with a set of Lesters and these Henry Abes. So much inspiration going on right now on this forum and you're all up in it.

No doubt. I wish I could sweep up those parts off my floor -- then I'd have more builds going! That said, I feel extremely fortunate that I was able to source NOS Lesters for my 550 without having to sell organs.

Yep, that's Gus, my best buddy. She's 16 years old and nearly stone deaf now. Best. Dog. Ever.

I thought I posted some pics of it mocked up.....here are a few more. None since it's been painted, though. Hopefully, the rings will be here soon and the engine will be buttoned up and I can get back on this one.

Hey Brent. I got your PM. I definitely agree after doing some additional research. It's just that the cruzinimage kit was part of a bulk parts deal that was so good that the pistons/bored cylinders were basically free. I may just save that and the ported head for my stockish 550 engine, IF it needs rebuilding some time in the future. I am now leaning on using my spare 650 engine (and rebuilding it with a ported head and 674 kit).

What did you use to paint the cylinders with?
The cylinder head had a drop on that left front corner, too bad. It still looks sweet!!
Very nice mix of silver and black with a little polished aluminum tossed in the mix. Have you thought about polishing the tappet covers?

Yeah, the head was a spare that was ported and polished....didn't notice that little ding until later on. Oh, well.

The paint is just VHT engine paint. Their silver is a very, very close match to the factory Honda paint. Black on the cylinders from a previous build. All the other black is semi gloss. I actually had polished stuff on it and swapped it over to the Replacement bike. I'm going for a subdued look on this bike. Satin, matte, brushed and sinister.
