When you take it apart for cleaning, be very careful part #5.  When I did mine, it literally broke in between my fingers

Thanks, but already removed and cleaned, no issue.  Eastyork has all these parts for sale, I may pick them up for spares.

you should have a little cast steel fork that locks the female to the cover once adjusted,the ball drops into the hole at the lever end of the male part.

And something pops out of the female part in around 9 months, I take it?
'73 CB750k engine, hubs, and a '76 tank, on 'a 78 frame. Go figure.

and that kids is how Hondas are born!any questions?just nip that fork so the alloy part is still movable for adjusting,lock it up once its adjusted,if you pull the clutch lever and that forks not tight itll spin the,gulp,female part in the casing.

Dave - the lifter rod that traverses the engine has small grooves along its length in a few spots. Yet there doesn't seem to be any corresponding seals or bearings that locate with it. Can you explain why they are there, and if they are necessary should you "build your own"?

I get the whole, "they were there, so put them back..." But trying to understand their function.

they are called "confusing rings"designed to confuse you?maybe part of indexing the length or to hold them during manufacture?

Dave's great sex education advice got me a clutch! The cover aint pretty, but this is The Patina Bike....



Thats about the easiest clutch adjustment around!

I tested by rolling the rear wheel by hand in gear with lever depressed and dumping it.  Only thing is, I am missing a special washer, what is it for and do I really need it?

Not too pretty, but I have certainly seen much worse. Float bowls were totally dry with sediment in them....



What about these K&L carb kits?  Made in Japan and came with the bike so I really want to use them.

These are going to my buddies shop for a good soak in his cleaning tank.

Seeing a CB500 in this good condition is like porn to me!

Not a whole lot happening on The Patina Bike other than cleaning/rebuilding the carbs.
Found out two of the overflow tubes in the float bowls leak, Haris had a couple and promptly shipped them. Thanks James.

Also received the NOS clutch cable [not easy to find] and an air filter.
Dave - you seen this brand cable before?



Decided to hold off on pulling the caliper till I get the system working, easire to get the piston out that way.

New upper brake hose ordered...

Bought that original seat for $80, not perfect, fits right in on this bike.  Sorry, the King/queen is in the trash.
