Germany won, but the referee was biased. Not what I like to see when 2 top teams play each other....

Ugh, midfield play by US was pretty atrocious and they were lucky Germany didn't score more.

HAHA ...you're considering the US a top team?  :P  Thanks to POR we are through on GD.
Germany should have scored several times in the first 20.
Our only real chance was in the 93rd minute   ::)

comments to my post are valid, but what I was on about were the yellow cards given to the US team. Referee was biased, and Klinsmann has commented about FIFA favoritism in the German press. 'nough said.....

I only saw the second half [sitting at a bar during an extended lunch] but the US was not aggressive at all, except during that 93rd minute.

Watched it and yes US not good in midfield not good enough to beat Germany.
Seems to me that some of the US players dived as well just a sign of not pulling together.

I'm just shocked that the US team has made it this far in the first place.

I also think the weather played a big factor. When the field is that wet passes don't go where they are supposed to and it is a lot harder to control the play. I think it was a bit sloppy on both sides but I will agree with a few comments here about the US side lacking a strong midfield. Had they been a bit stronger then Dempsey may have had a few opportunities. All I can say is that there should have been a lot more numbers beside GER on the scoreboard. And I agreed with the announcer when he commented on Schweinsteiger being "kicked by just about every US player on the field" that made me laugh.

Either way, Germany won and as a result of points, Ronaldo is going home..

Yeah, Ronaldo going home and the US advancing is sweet victory in my book.
Finally getting past Ghana was nice too.

Thanks for posting that Fly. What time zone are those game times, though?

Thought the US game is 3pm CDT?

as a Costa Rican I am morally obligated to root for the home team. As a U.S. citizen I must say this is one dandy game and I am most likely the only Costa Rican in the world that likes hockey. Could you image what would have happened to the "bitter" in a hockey game ??? do you think the guy would run around pulling down his shirt to show everyone the bite ??  That guy would have no teeth left to ever bite anyone again AND they would have mocked him all over the internet (that's the best part)     also I'd like to add how in the #$%* do you lose a game and advance to the next level it makes no sense whatsoever ... also I want 90 mins of my life back ever #$%*ing time I sat through an entire game and no one scored ... not one #$%*ing point AND to make it even worse its not even resolved in any way with penalty kicks or sudden death. Costa Rica played England didn't make one goal and goes ahead of them ...???any #$%*ing way  I'm watching and cheering for my country but I firmly feel this is a very dandy game and that rugby style contact and hockey type fighting should be allowed. We don't even have any other sport that is played in CostaRica I have to go up to Nicaragua to seem a baseball game  the only things we play is Footballsoker, Rodeo(ours is the #$%*ing best ever. youtube that #$%*, anyone is allowed in the ring) and Surfing/Skateboarding. On Sunday every easygoing Costa Rican I know is going to get all intense like gofightwin #$%* those mother#$%*ers...count me in.

As for seeing beautiful women; Argentina, Brazil, Netherlands, Colombia. Let's hope those are the semis!

Sorry Germany, fantastic cars and bikes, women, not so much.

Female German soccer fans ... agree
