There is a point where there is to much cushion to be pushing. If you have to move the "cushion" out of the way before you can even start pushing then it is to much. Hey IC,yeah, I'm runnin Accel coils & wires with Dyna 2000 ignition.I put the coils & wires on about a year before the elect. ign. And I noticed a big difference over stock coils & wires. I noticed even more when I ditched the points.Also....wanted to tell you I also had a 68 LeMans.Put alot of work into that car.I don't have very good pics of it but when I locate them,I will post in my gallery.I have a pic of my first car in there already....69 Chevelle SS396. Anyways.....yeah go for the Accel....its good by me!!!

Hey, IC! I just noticed you're in Murray, KY. I'm up here in the Louisville area (actually across the river in Indiana), so you're about as close to "local" as I can get.

Seems i have SOHC'ers in a 100-mile radius, but no one close (maybe I should try deodorant).
I used to drive through your town every weekend when I was stationed in Memphis. Had a friend that lived there and I would drop him off on my way here, then pick him up on the way back.

Anyway, welcome! Maybe we can get together next summer for a little ride!

Gawd, the '69 SS396 is my wife's big dream car, right after the powder blue '57 Chevy of course. I've got a pic of my '68 Pontiac but it looks pretty bad, although I look even worse

I'll scan it and put it in my gallery soon.
Appreciate the feedback on the Accel, that'll be one of my future projects, after the brakes of course!

I live in Jeffersonville and work in New Albany.
No gatherings that I know of. I'd like to get one together but haven't been able to put much thought into it. Maybe when things slow down (yeah, right) this winter I can see what I can come up with. I think there's a few members in TN also.

Haven't been to LBL since I was a kid. I remember it as being very pretty country. That would be cool. Really, any of the lakes - Cumberland, Rough River, etc. would be cool.

Did a lot of drinking and partying etc (lots of etc) in LBL loooong time ago. Thats the advantage of living out in the boonies. Can't get in as much trouble. Wish I could join you guys with my Paducah 750.

Wish I could. It could get real ugly! Love those West KY women! However, I'm now in Colorado. My bike knows the roads there very well. Especially the stop at Leder Bottoms for a cold one before heading to dry Murray for a hot one. Oh, the good old days! Hope you're taking over where I left off

Yeah...the cables.Thats what I'm thinking.I'm getting to be an OGHF so I won't be going to clip-ons,clubmans,drag bars but have been thinking about the Euro bars. They are lower than the stock mini-apes but don't look like they would send me to a Chiropracter after a 100 mile ride. I'm going to be doing research on finding the right length cables to go with my new improved bars.

Since they all need replacement anyway I figured I'd get rid of that problem then.

A question, here: Am I wrong in assuming that the bars that I took off were installed at some point by one of the POs? I figured they weren't stock bars, and the cables were bought to fit them. So if I got new stock cables they'd be pretty close to what I need for these new bars.
Anyone have a pic of a bone stock 750 K6?

Have seen the model ID guide here: http://sohc4.us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=38&Itemid=49

and the '76 750K shown has what appear to be normal handlebars. My question, I guess, is were there any 'dealer options" that included the gaudy bars I had on mine? I am guessing that the pic shown in the ID guide was a factory "stock photo" used for all manner of advertising. A better question would be: does anyone have stock handlebar measurements for a 750 K6?

The two 76 that came through my stall have been normal length stock bars and I think the repair manual gives dimentions. Now as for the special dealer options, well they were"special". Stock should put you right.

that's what I was hoping as far as cable length. I'll see about hunting down some measurements to be on the safe side since I've still got some time before I order cables.
