Topic: Let's see those headlights! debating on size

I've been looking through photos like crazy but they don't always list the size so it's hard to judge which one I want.  I like bottom might styles to get rid of the ears, but I don't think i'm into the smaller headlights.  If you could be so kind to post pics of your headlights on the bike and let me know the size and style? Bates, buffalo, etc.... 5.75, 6.75, 7" I think something in the 6 range would be the best but seems like it's hard to get a bottom mount for that.  All is appreciated.

I used a bates 5 1/2" on my z650. Fits nicely I think!

It's purely a matter of personal taste, but I think large headlights look cool on old bikes.

No picture, mine is stock.

My OEM lamp has today 3 relays too... I have to relocate them outside the lamp, still protected and not visible before LED goes in....

Just try not to go with too small of a dia headlight. The reason why is because a couple of years ago I was riding to work one morning before the sun was up and I was waiting for an opportunity to pass the car ahead of me. I saw a headlight in the oncoming lane and from my perspective it seemed like it was way down the road so I went ahead and proceeded to pass the car in front of me. Well that headlight that I thought was much farther down the road wasn't that far in fact it was bearing down on me pretty quick, it turned out to be another bike with a very small dia headlight but by the time I realized that I was already committed to passing the car in front of me. We both gave each other as much room as possible and I managed to pass the car and get back into my lane the moment me and the other bike passed each other. I have no doubt the rider on the other bike was pissed at me and he had good reason to be but I made up my mind right there that I was never going to mess with the size of the headlight on my bike.

New information has indicated that two smaller headlights (5" or so) make you more visible to motorists than one large light will; it's one reason newer bikes are coming out with this configuration. Just FYI!

I went with a 6.5" off of an old superhawk. The bucket is nice and deep with extra room for the harness connections.

whatever size you get, I recommend a headlight modulator.  Anecdotal studies show that to be the safest presentation to oncoming traffic.  It's one that I buy into.

The cut patterns lens, in combination with the bulb is what makes for a contolled beam pattern, particularly for the low beam.
The low beam on stock lights presents less light to oncoming vehicles and leaves a bit more on the shoulder of the road.
This can be seen best when directing headlights to a wall.
There might be clear lenses that do this as well but I havn't seen any...yet.

A 5.75" Bates style on mine. I also modified my wiring harness a lot so that there isn't as much wiring in the headlight so maybe I'm not the best example.

It's the Truck-Lite LED 7" you can find it on Amazon or eBay.

How is the output, the reviews seem good on these, and i did some research to make sure they werent a fly-by night eBay seller.
These show they have a wider pattern, that a Halogen, just want a first hand experience with the light since they arent cheap.
