So the search function seems to be down.

My favorite color would probably be the lady jade green. However, I feel the Candy Garnett Brown's have been selling for top dollar. Anyone know why that is? I watch eBay auctions religiously and I don't see the green or orange bikes selling for that much despite being in great condition and low millage.

I have sold a few bikes myself and after talking to a lot of enthusiasts and prospective buyers, people seem to want a color based on memories they have. Some had a particular color when they were released or had a cool uncle with a certain color.

Because The brown was the ugliest color of all, fendersrule can confirm this.

If your shooting for top dollar on a resale I would stick with a stock color correct for your year of machine. If its a keeper just pick 'your' favorite.

i wasn't asking for resale purposes. Just was wondering why the Browns seem to sell for more money. I wasn't around in the 70's so I didn't know if the brown was a popular color for these machines.

Here is my previous Candy Garnett Brown that I sold last summer. Still kicking myself for doing that. I am in the process of fixing a "replica" of the same bike at the moment. it should be complete any week now.

That was a great looking bike Rocs. I love the Candy Garnet Brown on my bike (even if it's faded to green on top) more than any of the other colors probably because it was a one year only color for the 550's. Just make's it a little bit more special.

Like the browns a heck of a lot better than the black bike I have.

I think the problem with the brown is when it fades it literally turns to shyte.

I prefer the Sunburst Orange from the '75 is the bike I notice the most. I think this one belongs to a young member of the board.

If you look closer it was probably the bikes condition and originality that brought the top dollar and it just happened to be brown. I do believe color sometimes drives up the price and usually brown is on the bottom of that scale. I myself love candy garnet if its not faded. I know on a K2 750 the orange adds quite a bit to the price. But IMO I believe condition, miles, and untampered original bikes with original paint are the bikes that bring a premium over color. The market on these bikes can surprise you though brown might be the new orange?

Seems like Sunrise Orange wins all of the "what color should I paint my bike?" polls here on the site, so that's one reason I painted mne that color. Besides, I think it's a seriously gorgeous color and very reminiscent of the '70s...

That bike is gorgeous. I think I have read through your build thread at least 5 times now. Hopefully the pictures stick around for years to come.

The sunrise orange and candy jade green were very period specific colors for the 70's i feel
