Show me your swaps!!! Engines, front ends etc.
« on: May 14, 2015, 09:21:06 AM »

This is my 1977 cb550f supersport. I swapped in a 1982 cb650 engine and a 2002 GSXR1000 front end. Harley complete wheel up front and a 18x3.5" harley rim laced to the stock 550 hub in the rear. Going to button up a few more little things this evening and take it out for a long ride to see what kind of problems i may have. Wish me luck!

Here's my "CB525."  ;D

It's a 1973 CB500 frame with a 1972 CB500 engine and all the horrid bits from the 1978 CB550. Oh, and 12 over forks just to cinch the ugly award. I rescued this from a field. I'll be reverting it to a stock CB500.

That's a beauty!  I wonder if the PO had to order EXTRA LONG FORK GAITERS to span the 12 overs.  What do you mean by "all the horrid bits from the 1978 CB550"?

Yeah, I have no idea where the PO found those gaiters but they are the size of two standard gaiters joined together.

By "horrid bits" I was mainly referring to the seat, bars and sissy bar. Though, I was never a fan of the later cb500/550 tail light either.

This is my 1967 black bomber with CBR250 front & rear suspension.  Also using the 250R foot rests & foot controls.

At the welder now to be professionally finished after I aligned and tack welded in place as you see in the pic.

I agree they are not as nice but at least they are more readily/reasonably available.
