Steel Dragon Performance Airboxes
« on: May 04, 2015, 07:15:11 AM »
Hey everyone. I've had a few of you ask about the Steel Dragon airboxes that I run with so I figured I would take some pictures of what they look like inside while I have my carbs off. The velocity stacks that the airboxes are built around have rubber o rings built in where they slide over the carbs throats. They clamp the carburetor throats with 3/32" allen set screws. The foam inside is a Unifilter type.

Those a pretty nifty!!  Like the bread boxes of yore, but with a more modern twist.  Have you ever considered connecting the two together to get a potentially more uniform pull?  Or do the individual boxes offer enough inlet volume to get good tunablility?

Steel Dragon makes these dual types and an all in one type box as well. They mimic the old style boxes from the 70's , but are made with high quality aluminum and machining. Tuning for these boxes really wasn't that hard. I also am running a 4-2-1 Cycle X exhaust on the outlet side. I don't have any weird flat spots in the RPM range or anything. I'd recommend them as a nice alternative for those going for the look of something like pods, but the function of a stock airbox.

I wonder if these offer better performance and ease of tuning on RS34s, or if they are available for fitment with RS34s???
