Source for keys?
« on: June 15, 2015, 10:58:34 AM »
My local dealership doesn't cut them, and the dude at hondakeys.com doesn't have my particular one. Where else can I get a key made for my CB750?

I have the ignition switch off a '77K on my '76 750F, but never got the key for the seat/fork lock, which is a different key. That is the one I'm wanting. I think it's probably a T3- or T4-style. Code on seat lock is 60L513.

I assume you do not have a working key. Otherwise, you can buy the blanks and take it to any locksmith.

For the K3F I never had ignition key, but there is a way to make it at home too.  You take apart the lock and cut the blank to match the pins.

Takes a bit of time, but great accomplishment  ;D

So I'd remembered that there was a guy on the naked Goldwing forum that made GW keys. He had made a key for my CB1000C a while back since they were identical to the GW keys. I sent him the key code for my 750F and he thinks he can cut it for me. We'll see....

A Good locksmith can cut a key w/ just the code#. I would take one of the locks to the dude you find and have him cut a key by the code# and then try it in the seat latch, etc.

Locksmith can cut it, but blanks are sometimes a problem.

For my seat lock I bought an original on ebay by the number and cut the second one myself.  These are not National Bank level tumblers, all the auto locks are pretty sloppy in tolerances.
