The s/s replica Seeley silencers arrived today. Not a 100% copy but pretty good.

Still some minor fettling to do but they went on fairly easily. I might get to ride it tomorrow

Why not just make the speakers go to 10, and just make 10 a little louder? llol

Bike sounds real nice. So what is the story with these seely bikes? Are they more race ready, I've never heard of one.

Colin Seeley was a racer and frame builder.
Made about 300 frames that take a SOHC CB750 motor. He is more known for his Norton and other british powered bikes.

Hi Bronco,

I have been trying to type a response ref. Colin but twice now the page froze and I lost it all. just Google/Wiki "Colin Seeley" and you will see what he was about. Suffice to say his frames had a sublime reputation in their era.

This is my other one, for the Suzuki T500 engine, posed alongside the 750 (pre new exhausts):

Hi, The bike is basically finished as it is pretty original and as they say "it's only original once"

. There are quite a few paint defects due to it's time in storage but I can live with them. The engine may need a top end strip to re-grind the valves and give it a de-coke but that can come later. I'm just dying to get a few more miles on it, roll on spring

Geoff,

This bike is a beautiful survivor. Since it's now a runner with the exhaust, I think it's eligible for BOTM. If you could post a few photos of the entire bike together, I'll nominate it myself. That's how much I like it!

I'd vote for it! I don't think I've seen a Seeley since I was a kid! Amazing that you have one for the Titan, too: those 2 bikes in that picture were the #1-#2 racers at most of the tracks I knew. The 50HP Titan, 150 lbs lighter than the 750, was a real beast to beat!

The horn: if it is the OEM horn, they rust inside and the coil stops moving, if not used once in a while. Very common!

I am still checking out the engine on my bike. The exhaust note is not quite right to me and the #3 cylinder is running rich (not firing every stroke ?), it seems the #3 is being a bit lazy

I am curious why #3 and #1 compression readings are down on #2 and #4, although they are within the range of acceptable (just). This could be due to the long time the engine was not running so may improve with a bit more use (I have only put 150 miles on it since I got the bike). I would guess a top end re-build/service is in order but I'm not sure it is essential at the moment, any thoughts on the best way ahead appreciated.

I will go through checking the tappet clearances today and re-run a compression test. I have checked the easy ones

and they were OK. I will have to look through the FAQ to learn what is needed for a leak down test.

I took the Seeley out for a run today after going through the tappets and re-setting the ign. timing which was too advanced (revealed with a strobe). I must have got it wrong statically first time around. Low speed running was much better and the engine was definitely more responsive. The tappet clatter was much more noticeable, so I think I will have to re-do those to check. A loose tappet is a happy tappet though but I want to get it right. What I do realise is I have to get out on a bike much more, my riding was a bit rusty

The new silencers really give the bike a great sound when using WOT to the red line, and the overrun is almost MotorGP like with much crackling

. If I figure out a way to record it I'll post it
