CB750K2 front sprocket side to side play
« on: October 02, 2015, 12:45:05 PM »
I'm installing new sprockets and chain. I noticed when the new Sunstar front sprocket went on it has some side to side play. I put the old one back on I noticed, now that I'm looking for it, that it has some play but not as much. Is it normal to have some play?

I also laid the new sprockets on top of the old to check the wear. They were actually were good and the teeth were pretty much the same, but if I hadn't done this I wouldn't have noticed that the previous owner swapped a 46 onto the rear, while I ordered a stock size 48. I guess I'm getting some extra acceleration.

Ive replaced chains and sprockets on both of my 750's several years ago. Remembering back I think their was just a little movement(side to side) on the front sprockets. Think thats just normal.

I think some of them had play - my K0 for sure - and on some models they went to tight fit; the 78F engine had none.

yes some play side to side is normal

is there a lot more play on the new one vs the old one? Is it the same width?

Yes, my front sprocket has rather much play as always. It will line up easier with rear then :)   CB750K6-76
