My oil gallery cap was damaged and originals are quite expensive, so tried this ally sump plug (Subaru aftermarket) which has a built in magnet to catch stray metal particals.

Used a dowty washer to seal.

Martin,
I removed my oil galley plug to use an oil pressure gauge.  If you'll PM me with your address, it's yours.  I can drop it in the mail tomorrow.

By the way, congratulations on getting it running.  We are still hoping to get there soon on ours.

You could also install an oil pressure gauge there.

When the tank was resprayed the filler opening was not masked off.

I carefully cut a line around edge to act as a break, as expected internal area painted bubbled up overnight afte putting in fuel.

Dont have a picture, but thats what happened, but with the break in place stopped it spreading.

I was able to gently peel of with craft knife and tweezers, leaving bare metal on sealing face.

Well today was the moment of truth as taking bike for test (MOT) before it can be registered in the UK.

Often wonder which state it originally came from as brown dust everywhere.

Got about 2 miles and engine spluttered to a halt, I thought #$%*!

I had put in a gallon of petrol and was already on reserve, so tipped bike over to left to try to get more fuel to tap side,

This did the trick and was able to get to petrol station  ;D

All going OK, slight hesitation, but brakes and gears fine.

Arrived at test centre in Godalming.

I know the tester as I went to school with him, but it is always a worrying time.

Told me to come back in 90 minutes, so went for a wander round town to kill time.

Strange how when you start taking pictures of your home town that you notice things you normally ignore.

Anyway, 90 mins later I return and guy at reception said the tester wanted to speak to me.

Oh dear, doesnt sound good.

I asked him how it went, he said fine, but wanted to know where I got all the parts and said he really liked the bike.

Pass certificate in my hot sweaty hands and off I hot foot to post office to send off the application to register. 8)

Thanks Ron, I was fairly confident, but when it spluttered to a halt I had a moment of doubt ???

Just now waiting for the seat on order and decision on decals/panel badges, but expecting the registration process to take a couple of weeks.

I had originally fitted an aftermarket  exhaust as ones that came with bike were incomplete.

In meantime I have been keeping an eye out on Ebay for OE

Managed to find a new Right upper (4) marked SR at joint.

Just found an almost NOS Left upper (1) marked SL at joint.

Great I thought I can now get ready to fit.

Took a closer look at the two lower pipes I thought were OK ,only to find the Left lower (2) marked IL on joint, has a mangled baffle  :(

Are these baffles replaceable on the K8 ?

Any suggestions welcome.

Looking at the ones on Stella, it appears that you can remove that rear piece to get inside to the baffle to replace it but I haven't tried, as that might scratch up the pipes.
