I had a -73 Taunus 2000 GXL back in 1984-85. It had a lot of rust underneath. Nice ride and sound from the 2L V6.
Not many Hp either. The bigger brothers of that model had max 136hp 3.0L.
A modern car from the 2000 something have often more than 200hp thanks to turbo and aftermarket programs tweaking the boost.

That Ford Taunus you pictured is almost vaguely familiar in styling to the Mercury Capri models we had here in the USA in the mid-1970's.I wanted one of them for a while.. or an Opel GT which have a very sporting look.

That Ford Taunus was known as the Ford Cortina over here. We got them as a 1600cc inline-4, an 2000cc v-4 and a 2.5-litre v-6 (which Ford SA later replaced by a 3-litre v-6). They were very popular in their day. For a while I had a 3-litre pick-up version.

I had USA front drive tauris' for company cars. They drove well but every time I totalled one out I got a worse one afterwards. After the second one my boss called and asked what was up? I replied, just thinning out the herd boss, if you got any more junky ass old tauri send 'em over and I'll finish them off too.

Hi Simon#42
Do a google for "ford cortina bakkie" and mosey over to google's 'images' tab. You'll see lots of them. They were hugely popular here. The standing joke was: "One litre brandy, 2 litres of Coke and a 3-liter Ford"

That's a cool looking ford. A lot of ford and Chevy euro cars are neat. My friend had a collection for Merkur xr4ti's and my wife's friend has a Scorpio with a 4.6 swap. One of the few scorpios I've seen in the states and its owned by a 30yo female. Lol very cool.

this one is a one ovner..and orginal plate..in denmark the plates do not follov the car.through its life..a ovner thange gives often new numbers
..so mostly, only one ovners have the orginal plate(total rare) in veteran car scene in denmark..the Taunus(small nose) is called "Knudsen taunus"in germany.
the English cortina..had not the small nose..and coupe vas not made...
have not seen any gxl in denmark..only l modells..mine is a sedan( vitaut the Black vinyl roof)

yes scorpio v 6 cars is nice..they came after the granada ..one i also had...

the 2,3 is a Argentina made engine..think they send them back to usa ford..vho used them in some small cars...the pinto engines goes from 1,3 to 2,2 liter..all use the same ohc desein..and cast iron head/belt drive cam..
Taunus vas last  Argentina and Tyrkiet..in the late 1980...

strynboen,
I saw many Ford Pinto USA spec. autos w/ 2.3 engines in the past, the 2.3 worked better than the smaller one here.

the yippies have faund the Classic cars..so hope they let us keep aur sohc Hondas..and start hack some Taunus and cortinas...the great thing is they keep them stock..so no harm done...only the preises ate harmed...but if spareparts is start to be made Again..its ok for all..

edit
..yes the 1300 vas a 55 hk engine..to small for even a Taunus...in Europa a 2.0,vas a relative big engine(in the 1970"( 100 hk cars)"..ve had many 1,0-1,6 car engines..just like the japanese..think that vhy they sold so bad in the first years" over there"....to the oil kreises help them to a big sale
2,0 vas the biggest pinto engine in Europa...in the British and germany made cars..2,0 had more hk then the v6..but all liked the v6 for the strong moment it gave..
