What I found handy for aluminum fab was two get 6 in flat bar rather than plate,
if you can buy small quantity, always pieces on the net.
 2 feet each of 1/4 in. 3/8 in, and maybe 5/16   will get you thru most project stuff.. not sure about rear brake bracket, fitting on 6in.
 If you are adapting stuff like brake calipers on the front, you will need thicker but milling is also usually involved.
6061-T6 is what you want. You can cut most stuff out on a small bandsaw if 6 inches wide, but plate will get hung up, then you need a skilsaw.

Good tips for sure - thanks.  Looks like closest Metal Supermarket near me is in Tampa (~4 hour drive).  I have a HF portable bandsaw that I built a stand for and it works pretty well but has a small throat area to fit pieces into.  I have a woodcutting Craftsman bandsaw that someday I want to build/find a speed reduction for.

Shipping I'm not too sure as it was about 6 months ago and  I had one box sent straight to Australia and I had the other box sent to LA to come over with a couple of bikes in a shipping container.  I would be about 99.9 percent sure the dude who answers the phone at Air tech (Walter maybe) would be more than happy to have a chat and help you with your budget figures. I really think he is a very good bloke.
I got both the full fairing and the short fairing to give me options of having it look how it should look with the full fairing and then maybe using the half fairing with some handle bar risers and new bars for a touring Rickman that won't hurt my back.  I don't have a thread on my Rickman build but I do know that it is about the slowest build in history.

Thanks for the additional info.  Sold another bike http://www.ebay.com/itm/292002689853 so I was able to call Airtech and talk to Walt and get my order going.  As you said Walt was a great guy to deal with and treated me right on the pricing.  It will take 2-3 weeks to build the parts and then 4 days shipping from CA.  Very excited!  Walt also gave from the link for the windscreen which I purchased separately.  My spokes and Borrani rims should arrive this Wednesday from Buchanans.  Job and life has been getting in the way of making actual progress other than buying parts.  Hopefully that will change soon.

Yes indeed! Big and expensive!  I see a Lockheed caliper (from a Triumph) on ebay right now that might work on the front. Otherwise I'll buy a pair of AP Racing Lockheed-style calipers and a master cylinder for the rear from http://www.clubmanracing.com/discsystems.php  In the interest of time/money I may try and modify the stock Honda 35mm forks to work by welding on a front caliper mount and replacing the bottom studs with bolts.  Of course I know this is less than ideal and am open to suggestions.

Stock triumph units are steel and very heavy so I would steer clear. The aftermarket AP units are what you need.

Welding forks has been done by others with varying degrees of success. Considering its a brake related component I wouldn't trust it. You can try a fork like the GL1000 which is closer to rickman size and is much easier to adapt a caliper to. See my AHRMA racer thread to see the finished product.

Metal Supermarket will probably ship for reasonable cost.
 Yeah the Triumph caliper would be real heavy, even an AP is not super light and its aluminum. They have the look, they are the right stuff.

What do you mean Frank? Like where the line goes in? The bleeder should be in the other side, but I suppose you could run the feed line and bleeder in either hole.

Not seeing the inlet, maybe looking at wrong side,  most have the inlet coming in same way as the bleeder.

In the picture in the listing, the inlet is where the bleeder is at. The bleeder actually goes in the hole on the back half of the caliper but the threads are the same so you could use either hole as feed or bleeder.

This is probably not relevant and has already been dismissed in theory by the experts, but there are a huge variety of classic Honda forks available in different sizes for little money, which all have standard dual calipers and nice rotors: 35mm, 37mm, 39mm and 41mm.

The forks aren't as big a deal but a proper rickman should have AP calipers.

Here are a few more Rickman pictures. The Honda CR appeared for sale first at VMD in 2006 and last in 2014, so I thought. Closer look, however, shows the bike seen in 2013 was different and the 2006 and 2014 were different bikes also.

1975 Rickman framed, 74 Kawasaki Z1 900 engine race/street monster.
74 Kawasaki Z1 900 engined race/street monster. APE big bored to 1065cc, factory close ratio transmission, racing alternator, total loss ignition with dyna coils. Keihin CR 39mm smoothbore carbs. Rickman racing forks and triple clamps, works performance shocks. Lockheed racing master brake cylinders to brembos, 4pot front, 2 pot rear. Cal-fab swingarm, aluminum gas tank, Earles oil cooler, lots of custom billet aluminum bits like rearsets, mounts, etc.

Ha, that would be nice, eh?  Looks like no takers on that one.
BTW, thanks for all the recent pics and links.  I've been a bit side-tracked with honey-do tasks and other stuff.  I have sold 4 bikes since 1 Jan and have raised a good bit of capital for buying the remaining parts needed for this Rickman-Honda replica.

To assure you there is life in this project, look what arrived today by FedEx from Airtech Streamlining in CA:


Parts look amazing and Airtech did a wonderful job.  I had already received the windscreen from Gustafsson Plastics (who knew they were just an hour away in St. Augustine.) 

Probably won't get a lot done until April at rate things are going, but I it is nice to have all the fiberglass on site now.

Nice glass pieces.  I assume you will line the gas tank with an epoxy (like Caswell) to resist against the effects of ethanol-based fuels.
