I don't want a side cover or custom look.  I like the look of the exposed tank. I am going for a cleaned up functional look.  Something that could have been done in the late 70's.  The oil tank will not be covered and the left side will be open.  The electrics will be housed behind and under the seat.

Installed a steering stabilizer.  Used the threaded hole on the right lower triple and made up a tab and welded to the frame.
The threads in the triple are poor. I'll have to address that.

Ive never seen one mounted cross ways like that [I have 3 bikes with stabilizers]
I would have welded the tab on the R side.

A lot of late model bikes have them installed crossways.
I like it because it's tucked up out of the way and not interfering with anything.
I also want the adjuster on the left so I don't have to take my hand off the throttle to adjust it.
I do appreciate you checking in and advising.

I did some testing with steel tube propping the bike up at the forward location and it seems fine.  I just don't want to go ahead and change it if I'm missing something "obvious".

I relocated mine on my cb400f forward. I used the stock bracket and an adjustable aluminum side stand from an rc51.

Finished the rear brake set up today.  I shortened the pivot/arm shaft and cut the frame tube to suit.
The brake "lever" was made by cutting the brake pedal off at the spline and making and welding a lever to it.
The brake rod just had to be "adjusted" to clear the swing arm.
I made up a stay rod but I'm not sure if it's the one I'll ultimately use.
All of these parts will be painted or powdered black.
Still have to figure the brake light switch.

I'm going to purchase tires and am looking for some advice. I'll be using the stock wheel sizes.  After some research I think the tire of preference is an Avon Road Rider.  It seems to be a quality product with the appearance I am looking for.
My questions have to do with sizing. 1.  How big of a tire will fit my rim sizes?
                                                     2.  Is there "optimum" sizing that suits these bikes?

Avon's are great tires.   I run 100/90-19 & 120/90-18's

Test fit my Godffery duals before completing the teardown. All fit with no issues.   8)  I'm not running a cable driven speedo so I'll make a spacer to replace the drive assembly. 
Now I can complete the frame mods.

That brake set up looks killer.  I got rid of my speedo drive as well.  It a bit rough and made some bad noises.   :)  So I just split the housing and used the spacer that is internal.  I use GPS speedo from an app for my Iphone that will be mounted on my existing dash bracket.

Yes.  It looks pretty good.  I polished it right up.  It has one machine groove in it, but looks just like a spacer.  Really, the only difference was..I don't have a lathe, and this was a fast accurate solution for me.  :)

Relocated the side stand forward and removed the remaining frame tabs, cleaned up some tubes and added some lightening holes.  They're not finished yet. They still need to be chamfered. Then it'll be on to the right side.
After that I'll install a Gordon frame kit.

There are tubes welded in.  ;)  I wouldn't compromise the structure just for aesthetics.  We'll.....................not knowingly!   And yes, I realize that I have not "lightened" anything.  The tubes and welds weigh more than the material removed.   :o
