Well I've always been terrible on documenting progress on my project bikes, let alone posting anything to the forum. This is my fifth rebuild, hence why I'm calling it the 'ultra-secret project F'. It's my first F model and boy-howdy it's a mover. Since we've got some good weather in the northwest; it's time to share.
The details:
-1977 cb750F I pickup for trade for a cb650 motor
-Torn seat that I reupholstered with ebay cover
-Seat trim, storage container, headlight bucket sourced from the forum
-Ebay: nos turn signals, head light ears
-Side covers from the one and only FrankenFrankenstuff!
-The engine was garbage with scored and pitted cylinders, rusted through stock exhaust, torn up crank bearings etc
-New valve guides and keepers, port on the head, rings, cylinders, crank and big end bearings, new clutch
-Had to replace the pistons and rods with some other old ones I had (the piston pins rusted inside the pistons)
-Had to swap out the cases since the originals were thrashed
-rebuilt oil pump
-Delkevic exhaust (best decision of my life)
-GSXR rear master cylinder, rebuilt stock front master, new pistons and pads and replaced a few of the lines
-I ended up completely rewiring it and replacing many leads and re-pining some of the connections, as well as redoing all of the alternator wiring
-Running the early style round top carbs which I fully rebuilt
-I then some little icing are all 8 finned tappets and points cover that I found on ebay for $30 if you can believe it
-Did a bit of painting on the headlight ears, side covers, engine and seat cowl but left the tank stock in the same condition as when I got it
-I made a Daytona style shift cover with the cutaway for the front sprocket
-I know I'm probably omitting a lot on this list that I might post later on
Big thanks to the forum and especially all those who like the kooky late model f's
