Nice! Thanks for that. Couldn't help but notice the paint looked mint from the beginning. Always liked that white Heron paint scheme. Actually I liked many GP schemes...Rothmans, Skoal, Kool etc

they normally do look good mike , its because they have been in someones collection or museum for years so are cosmetically good
the problem is when you get them apart , the magnesium cases were designed to last a season so a few decades latter are in a terrible state
the latter rg's are worse for this as the cases are thinner . i have had a tz500 engine in a box under my bench for the last year and it will stay there until i figure out how to make a set of crankcases !

I’ve done a little welding on a magnesium cooling fan from
Porsche 911. I’ve found a good generic filer rod that seems to
Work well with no cracking (fingers crossed)
Yes it’s tricky to weld (use a LOT of purging gas)
Never tried it with the laser welding process but should work well
Loved the video and keep up the great work

One of my all time favorite bikes.  Going with the traditional paint?  Came in white/blue and red/white as I recall.

Jim French is a phenomenal welder, he knows his stuff.
Anyone making billet cases for a fortune to do a replica like repro of the original Magnesium cases.

If you ever catch the magnesium case on fire it will be pretty spectacular as it melts itself into slag, very hot too...
Hard to put out without special stuff like Halon or equivalent if you can't flood it with inert gas to smother it.

White Phosphorus grenade kind of fire...
