Blizzard of 2006: one helluva snowboard day!
« on: December 21, 2006, 08:52:09 AM »
I woke up yesterday morning to a light dusting on the road.  I thought nothing of it and my friend Jason and I were on our way to Eldora Ski Resort near Boulder, Colorado.
As we started up the mountain things got treacherous.  We barely made it to Nederland so we stashed the car at the park n ride and rode the bus the remaining few 1000 feet of climb... the bus barely made it to Eldora.
This was the scene as we arrived at about 10am

This was an AMAZING powder day, see...

When we got back to the car this is what we saw...

We had to dig it out of there obviously, we had to dig it out about 10 minutes later when I got it stuck about 20 feet further and we had to dig it out again when I parked at Jason's house.  Rather than be snowed in at Jason's house I opted to drive the remaining 20 miles back home IN A BLIZZARD.  I pulled onto my road and immediately got stuck... pinned the throttle and rocked the car a bit and somehow got unstuck and drove the remaining two blocks only to get stuck in front of the house kindof in the intersection at a not very well parked angle... and that's where "the trepid" sits now.

But, the house was a welcomed site

it's kindof like where's Waldo but the car's name is not Waldo...  ;D

Now, time to get bundled up to go shovel and, if there's energy left over we're building a SNOW CAVE!

Wow. I wish I lived closer to the mountains. The nearest mountain is a 11hour drive away in Ausria or Switzerland, and I can afford a few nights in either of those countries.
Happy boarding

I had a ferret years ago. She loved the snow! had to keep a close eye on her or she would dig as far as she could!

Heffay,
I was in Canon City (60 miles SW of my home) yesterday & today. NO SNOW!! I had to stay overnight because everyone was blizzarded in. Unreal. Just got home and it's up to my waist in the yard.

Looks soooo pretty! Guess you will have a White Christmas.
reminds me of the story of the rich Flatlander (anyone south of Vermont) whom moved here
and marveled at the beauty of it, at least the first snowstorm. ;D

we managed to build ourselves a fort too  ;D  (the bottom of those windows is 6 ft.)  now our smokers nook on the back side of the house doubles as "the trenches"
we are seriously ready for some wintertime warfare!  we were also considering it as an oversized beer cooler for our upcoming party... just stick all the beer bottles in the wall of snow for people to grab whenever refreshment calls  ;D ;D
