Topic: 1978 Honda CB550k fuel tank

Good day everyone

I recently put a cb550k tank back on my K bike, the previous owner sold me the bike with a 550f tank on the bike.
I find the 550k tank moves a lot from side to side. ( feels very loose ) Rear rubber holder is new, is this common?

I don't remember this with the 550f tank on the bike. The 550k tank makes a "tonk" sound while riding. Can't figure it

First if you wish to get rid of the F tank I maybe interested.

Second F tank is longer than the K tank so fitment will be different on the tanks.

how "finished" ? The F tanks are approaching hens teeth status at this point, there are lots of guys like me out there with repaired pinholes in theirs because theyre not super common. If you still have it on hand and it's not completely destroyed someone here will want it.

The F tank and the 77-78 k tank are basically identical. The 74-76 k is shorter. Are the rubber insulators on the frame that slide into the pockets on the center of the tank in good shape

If its actually a K4 frame the tank should fit nice and snug. Unless the tank or frame were damaged and repaired in the past...? I wonder if your rear rubber mount is the wrong part. Also, +1 to what Bankerdanny said.

if somone have "autdented" the tank use airpressure...it vill open up..and the rubber dots vill not suport to the frame mounts... . its the po vho did that ..and sold the tank at e bay..to mee.....

The fuel outlet is a smaller diameter on a 77/78 550K tank, but apart from that it is identical to an F tank.

In your case, what strynboen said - a PO has had air pressure in the tank which has spread the sides apart. It may be possible to  squeeze it back together carefully with ratchet straps?

yes those cargo straps..for big trucks..is my last thance..i can use my tank..but it are Loose...vas thinking to make some vider rubber pucks..if the sqveesee manovre dont vork aut
