After a couple magazine articles, I knew I wanted one, but did not really think there was much chance of finding anything viable. Then one day sitting at a bike show, someone decided to cruise in on this...

That really got my heart racing.

Then M. Rieck posted one for sale here, but it had been re-painted and the engine was dis-assembled, and it was in Boston of course. So then my buddy found mine on craigslist about 2 hours away...here it is soon after picking it up

hopefully gonna find basic mechanical solidity...the real challenge is finding plastics. What little is available is very expensive. There's always AirTech to bail me out.

When Sean is on his SOHC 750's Terry I can get him good in the straights on the Bandie but when it comes to the corners I turn into a timid old man while the young buck is draggin' his knee.

Well, this has not been updated in a while. It has been getting ridden ...lots. as a result, it was in need of some maintenance. So, I have been doing a bit of work on it this winter.

Sometime in the last year, i added a tarrozi fork brace. I must have gotten the installation wrong, pulling the forks into a bind and a fork seal leak to match. I fixed the bind right away, but the leak remained.

So, once the season was over, and some other projects got stalled, I got to work...turns out one leg got gouged quite badly. I sanded the gouge out as best I could and put it back together. We will see how it seals. Might have to find a new set of forks, as the inside of the sliders is probably worn beyond use. I replaced the piston rings, but that is all you can do with these.

Next up was a little carb work. This bike had always had a really sluggish throttle action. Throttle snapped closed just fine, but had a heavy pull and it was high time to remedy. Turned out to be some worn out throttle cables, so they were replaced. I thought back to how I had never been through these carbs, I had just tuned em up with jets, and the other usual adjustments. They were filthy on the outside, so I decided to give em a proper clean.

So with new found throttle quickness , it was time for some bling! The kerker emblem had been missing from the muffler for a couple years now. I had want ads on up all over the net for the early, small emblem. Finally, a member here came up with a whole nos muffler for a great price. So this bike loses its bellowing trombone sound for the tight and iconic kerker race baffle sound.

Thanks guys. Growing up, I always felt that the yin and yang of the seasons here in michigan added some depth to life. Now, I just really don't need the yang anymore.

This winter has been relatively mild. Really, just enough cold and snow to keep the streets salty and the bikes in doors.

Sean...... Ontario is getting clobbered! We had three days of skiing planned, in Collingwood. My buddy, whose a 65 year old snow border (and really good at it), called and said not to come. Just too much snow, roads are impossible! Here’s the view from my front door. There is another step that’s disappeared. +2’ everywhere and more where it’s drifting. Even more snow forecast for today and tonight. My old FORD with a plow is getting beaten up! Too much YANG!

Beautiful work Sean, and beautiful pics of that white stuff. Glad we don't have it here though, looks great on Christmas cards and in movies like "Groundhog Day", but I couldn't live with that sh1t stopping me from riding my bikes whenever I want to.

Yeah PeWe, that baffle in the new kerker might want a little less main jet. Hoping for rain, to wash away the road salt so I can test on it!
