Nothing kills grass.  It just hibernates for a while until the sun pops back out.

Nah, winter slows growth of grass and some grass will get lighter green or turn brown and then revive in spring after the dormant cycle has passed. Fall and spring are best time to seed or reseed if the birds don't come eat all your grass seed.

Cold weather here and light dusting with a little seen on windshield above wipers Christmas morning around 330 am, but mountains close by saw around an inch.

Erie PA was hammered previous 48 hours with new record of lake effect snow dropping 56 inches and will continue to get more snow through Thursday I saw on news earlier tonight.

Yeah, Milwaukee is in the icebox right now. -4ºF right now and not normal for the season. I have learned that nothing is normal around here in the winter! I have been wrenching on the 750f build and need new carb boots and PD throttle cables to Finish. Started ripping down another cb550 top end for rebuild and will be finished by spring. Going to flip this one. I think?

RE:carb boots
Do not buy aftermarket carb intake boots.  I am hearing reports of them not lasting more than 2 years at the longest and the crusin-image boots have had a few reports of them crumbling after a season of riding.
Better to step up to Honda and order them from mother Honda.  South Sound Honda in Olympia Washington has very good prices and are reasonable on shipping costs.  Worth checking if you are not having a local dealer ordering them for you.

RAF,
That is good info.
Not too many sellers have the 77, 78 carb boots. Found them on the Vintage CB 750 site. Are you saying that these will not last? I have ordered many parts from South Sound Honda and they are a great seller for the best price of OEM I can find. This build has morfed around a bit and the round top OEM carbs ran strong but I really want to run the Manx Aluminum tank and they interfere. The PD42B carbs are ready to go and I just need new boots and throttle cables.

Thanks for the input!!

Your round top throttle cables will work with the PD42B carbs mate. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here in WI we had just enough snow to cover the grass for Christmas. Today the current temp is -4 and wind chill warnings to -35 below. Going to be very cold all week. Time to stoke up the the fireplace.

Hey Johnie and sixth, that Wisconsin weather has moved across Lake Michigan and picked up and left us with 5 or 6 inches of fresh powder. I'd say the storm gathered steam on its way but that would be a bad comparison because it's just a bit colder at -5f.
We usually touch the -f territory a couple times per winter but we are only a week in and that -5f will drop a few more before the sun shines today.

Well, one good thing a hard freeze has a benefit is when the ground gets very cold it will kill a lot of insects that burrowed shallow and many that did not burrow deep enough and it will kill those larva .  So, there should be fewer bugs when you get a good freeze that will last a week or more.

-9º this morning!
Talked to my buddy in Florida yesterday and it was 77º there.

Terry,
Didn't think those cables would work but I never tried them. I'll give it a shot.

One of those peckerwoods loves to drill my siding. He has a contingent of other birds watching out for him so I rarely get close enough to scare him away.

It's well below zero here and the roads are now salted so the only Honda leaving this garage is an Accord. Too bad, I have an 80 kz1000 that needs a shakedown ride.

What a disappointing season for both teams...

Your cold air has made it down here, only 40* out today.
Wanted to work on the bikes but cold temps + hangover do not equal fun in the garage!

Minus 6 degrees here this morning, seemed like a good day to put some batteries on charge but too chilly to do much more than that. I was hoping to get a little shop time in while I have down time...It's supposed to get way colder than this tonight and last for at least a week, getting the stuff that the upper mid states are getting now.

I hate winter too mate, but it's summer here, so woohoo! My new Motobatt battery for my old Sportster finally arrived yesterday, so I think I'll shove it in, and go for a ride! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry...what is winter actually like there? Just wondering...never been in the area.

G'Day Johnnie, Oz is a bit like the US, in that it's such a large piece of real estate that the temps at the top end in winter can be as hot as some countries in summer. A cold day in Darwin would be a hot day in England, for example.

Here in Melbourne at the bottom of the country, apart from Tasmania (the only land mass between Oz and Antarctica) we have the coldest winters generally, but the temps rarely fall below 50 deg F, so it's pretty good. I built my K2 "Bitsa" over the last winter outside in my open patio, and it was pretty pleasant. I store my bikes and equipment in my "colourbond" steel garage, and this time of the year it's unbearably hot inside, so the patio, which is open on three sides, is much more pleasant in summer for wrenching! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah , it's been painfully cold here this week. Our local fillin stations must not have cut the diesel to 1/2 and 1/2 mix with Kero.  Both my trucks have been jelled and down all week, and other guys that have them up and running are jelling out on the road...very unusual for around here. Too cold to leave the house and too cold to play in the garage. I'd be happy to see some temps in the 30's at this point.
