old BMW kosts the same as a used moped.

The wifey complains about her 370Z and said how 'bout a BMW?   They are quite expensive here.
If I did buy one, I would want an M4.

Here is a 20 yr old M5, it's still $32K?!  Dont know BMW pricing but that seems high.

Yep thats stupid money for old Euro-trash Steve, over here where everything is expensive, that car wouldn't go for more than 10, not that they'd be able to sell it, except perhaps to young Middle-Eastern males who seem to think old European sh1t boxes are uber cool, especially for illegal drift racing, until, inevitably, the fragility of the design allows the wheels to fall off.

If you're gonna get a European car, lease a new one and hand it back at the end of the lease, usually 4-5 years is about the best you can hope for before all the minor issues start.

I still remember a fellow executive at my last job looking for someone to do an "insurance job" to steal and burn his X5 that needed a new computer one year out of warranty, which, with installation was a cool $12K to fix. ($8K USD) He wanted the insurance money to buy a Toyota...... ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I was preparing to weld up the inner rocker panels on my firebird and thought to inspect the outers. They looked good but felt lumpy when I ran my hand over them. Sure enough, a screwdriver went right through. Tonight I ordered inner and outer rocker panels for both sides. I bought dynacorn brand since they are building the complete cars and would know if there are issues with the product. An hour of comparing and I see Speedway motors sells them cheaper than the dynacorn depot, I found a $25 discount code and got free shipping. Win win.
The rocker panel assembly is over $300 each but the two components to make it are $77 and $75. For the difference I'll weld it myself and I can treat the inside while I'm in there. They ship direct from dynacorn so I'm sure they're the same product.
I considered buying convertible parts assuming they're thicker but don't want to open a can of worms so I got the coupe parts. I may still go inside with round tube and fit a bend out through a fishmouth hole to turn the rear subframe into a unibody.  Then where the Art Morrison frame rails tie in I can also plate the inside.

So after a weekend of driving on the new back brakes I'm slowly coming to believe they're fixed. Problem is I got used to driving Mrs spottys 2016 yeep with half the weight and 4 discs and now my brakes feel like sh1t
I still need to replace the warped front discs and new pads
Then new tail light, then new tailgate handle, then fix the fairly serious oil leaks and then service
Then see what craps out next
Bloody things only 14 years old, who'd have thought it'd need work already ?

was out driving last night and after parking set off again and as i let the handbrake off there was a disturbing lack of tension on it.....b0ll0cks...fcuking cable has dis-attached somewhere and its going to p1ss down all weekend ( which means no gardening, yay) but it means i'll be lying under the car with water running down the driveway using me as a diversionary device

I was gonna suggest that you not worry about a handbrake Spotty, but then I remembered your Mount Everest shaped property and thought, "nah", you better fix it, once it starts rolling it probably won't stop for a good couple of miles............ ;D

I can't get no respect. My dragster engine guy said the engine's finally done but not the trans, it was due 2 weeks ago. I tried to get a price on the rear frame section to match the new front frame for my firebird yesterday at 1 pm. No word yet. I'd think the folks around here would be happier to take my money.
Reminds me of the old saying, I spent most of my money on bikes, booze, women and cars. The rest I just wasted.
I did pull all of the frame jig parts out of the rack and grind off all of the funnycar fixtures. I made a trailer hitch insert to hold 15' steel tube sticking 7' out of the back of my truck. I'll take a red flag along.

New entry for the Australian to American translation guide:
A "crown" in Oz is a "ring gear" in the US. ;D

its crown wheel, ring gear is what goes around the fly wheel for the starter motor to drive.

ring gear can also be your bum hole!

We also call the flywheel gear a ring gear, but when talking about differentials, it's a "ring and pinion". ;)
Never heard "ring gear" associated with an arse hole!!??? ::)
