Seriously though, the minimum visual acuity required here in BC to get your licence is 20/50!!
If thats your minimum, I guess I fail at 20/12, right? or is that backwards?
The top line of the Snellen fraction is the distance at which the visual acuity is measured (distance from you to the test chart). 20 feet hereabouts, or 6 metres in European currency. The bottom line of the fraction is the distance at which a person with 'normal' visual acuity can see the letters that you have to be 20 feet away to see.
Normal = 20/20 (6/6)
Excellent = 20/15 (4/4.5)
Typical nearsighted person = 20/200 or worse. (6/60)
