Does anyone know what the Coast Guard calls their jail?  I almost found out the hard way tonight.

At the Alexandria Seaport Foundation center tonight( a building on a barge in the water across the river from Washington D.C.), we found a dead deer floating in the water against the barge, and stinking to high heaven.  It was decided that we would tow the carcass across the river to let it float down river.  Animal Control was not an option we wanted to wait for because of the smell.  We fired up the outboard (a Honda) and off we go.  The Coast Guard typically flies by with their copter, low altitude under the flight path of National Airport, sometimes twice each evening.  We are about halfway across the channel when they do their thing.  Their standard path is about 4 to 5 hundred yards up, a good pace, quite graceful actually.  You can see that this time, they spot us.  The nose comes up to slow down, and they come left to get closer.  I start #$%*ting bricks about now.  I'm at the helm.  The other two in the boat start talking about whether to send either me or the carcass if they possibly drop a basket.

The only thing we can figure is that they can see damn well from up there, and they knew we weren't a threat.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Basically, there is no parking for motorcycles anywhere near my particular building I work at. The spaces along the sidewalk need a toll ticket. If I buy one and put it on my bike, people take it and put it in their car so they don't have to pay. So, I found about 8 free spaces a mile down the road by a restaurant. First come-first served. By the time I get there, they are all taken but there is always room to park my cycle in a 1/3 space, on the ends or between 2 cars that leave a space too small for a car to fit. I lock my handlebars everytime. One day a few weeks ago, I came out to find my harley was moved into the front walkway of a business, stradling the walkway with both tires in the mulch. I could have gotten severly fined or towed. I had parked on the end of all the cars and left a some maneuver room for the last car to leave. I know who did it cuz he was parked in my spot, hanging out way over the end of the legal parking area with a huge camper on his truck. Then a week later I come out to have a note on my handlebars. Called me a #$%*head and was pretty nasty. I'm not taking a space that could possibly fit a car and I don't have any other options for parking. I'm already walking a mile in... Hence the need for the alarm and lock. I only have to be there next week yet and then I move up to the main hospital again for 2ns shift hours. ($50/month to park a cycle and we don't even get to park in actual spaces. we have to park on the corners/nooks and crannies of the parking garages where no cars can fit.  >:()  Yes, it does suck but at least it isn't $200/month for a car. Not kidding. The employees have to pay to park at our own job. How messed up is that?  :( I'm still trying to figure out some decent, free parking before my new shift starts.

Marti, you can't hit on a non-forumn chick. It's not allowed.
Today is normally my day off, I'm working so I can take friday off without costing me a vacation day.
I almost didn't wake up, and my eyes still don't wanna open.
I gauged my ears back to a 9/16 last night. Shoulda went bigger. Oh well. It'll have to wait a couple more weeks, as all of my money is tied up in chicago, paying havoc, and hopefully a whole buncha engine stuff. (stupid insurance is gonna come out the 23rd.  >:()

Did everyone get that announcement about the guy with the leaky carbs?  I went over to that thread and I've only heard of three of the people posting in it.  All the rest have less than 5 posts.

What do you mean pills?

This showed up in my email inbox with the subject "New announcement: 74 CB350F leaking carbs but runs great":

I bought this bike from my uncle and he obviously had worked on it a lot and got it running pretty good. When I got it all I did was change the oil, spark plugs, air filter. This bike runs super great, I've got it up to 90 and probably could have went more but started to get nervous. My only complaint is that it leaks fuel outta the carbs overflow. This is my first bike and I want to work on it myself but am nervous to tear into the carbs cuz they're so touchy. Any suggestions? Is there a way I can just fix the carbs float without rebuilding the carbs?

Here's a picture of her. I repainted it myself, upholstered the seat myself. Still need to do a few more things.
Cheers!

I don't know how this guy managed to send an announcement to all 7000 members.

What college are they thinking about?  I love Iowa.  It's basically the same as Minnesota, but the mosquito's aren't the size of dinner plates and it doesn't usually get as cold in the winter.  Less forests, more farm land.  The people are pretty solid.  If a native Iowan tells you they're going to do something, chances are pretty good they're going to do it.  Iowa City's pretty nice because it is kind of centrally located in the Midwest.  3 hours from Madison, 4 hours from Chicago, 4.5 from St. Louis, 5 from Minneapolis, 5 from Omaha, 5 from Kansas City.  But, my answer really depends on where she is going to go to school.

 :D Should've  ;)
You know what, when I'm done with this bike, I'ma start building other ones. I'm sure I can cut more costs than I did this time. eleven hundred isn't bad, but I thought i had about 970 in it. I forgot about trueing the wheels with the mount and balance.
Problem is, I'll have to make them less cool than mine, because Then i'll want to keep them all.  :(
